the best 'banner blocker' i've used is Ad Muncher (http://www.admuncher.com/) the only downside to ad-muncher is that it costs money. You can download the trial for 30 days but then you have to register it.

Cheers :D

P.S There are many crack/keygens out there for ad-muncher

Wont prefer that. It blocks all the animations on the webpage as well. Not sure people would want that. At least not me.

Dont use a serial or crack for ad muncher. Tho i think this is a great program, they scan to see if you got a legit serial. Then they record your IP and date & time. Then they give you little message that tells you they using the program illagly will result in a prison term of 5 years or 250,000 dollors. Then it takes it back to the 30 day trial. ;)

Norton Internet security is a good popup/ad blocker.

Use Netcaptor -- its basically a skin for IE, it uses multiple windows interface like Opera, it's BUILT IN pop-up blocker !!! So With Netcaptor, u r stil using ur IE (opens every damn link that opens in IE, cuz it is IE :)) and getting rid of the damn pop-ups.

yea, zonealarm is great. just turn off the banner ad blocker. it's not like u'll die from seeing a few banner ads. but it's still works great, and u don't need like a firewall and ad blocker. saves system resources

Ad Muncher is definitely the way to go.

About its "Serial Verification" - You need to first block www.admuncher.com through the HOSTS file, then register it. It will not bug you :)

every one of us thinks this software is better than that software.

how about it we make it a challange? If anyone has a site address that REALLLLLLLY generates banner/popup (or whatever u wanna call them), to post it and let's all go there and see if the software we have is really blocking ALL.

We have to be honest in our results and if u can post a count of how many were blocked.

Ad Muncher does block every popup/ad/banner, and is the best. Sucks i cant get it. Other then that everything is a toss up and should be a challange between them

It's not that 'my software' is best. I'm talking from experience, as I tried a lot of ad blocking programs: AdsBegone, AdSubtract [also good but seems uncrackable], WebWasher, Norton Internet Security, Pop-up Stopper, Free Surfer mk II, Zero Popup, etc.

I must say that the best banner/popup blocker for IE 5.x is WebWasher. It doesn't seem to work as good as it did on IE6.

Trust me, it works. It 'logged' me about 5 times before I found this way.
Besides, I would never post a solution that I haven't checked and proved it works.

Of course, paying is a good solution too :D

In IE only the text or plain windows opened (those were considered safe)

In Firebird NOTHING appeared

In Opera NOTHING appeared

Unique 78 "Ads" were blocked out of 81 :)

if ur interested, try THIS TIP (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=64831&st=0&#entry499791) then THIS TIP (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=64831&view=findpost&p=567015) plus NIS, that would block 99% of the junk. I can't wait till Norton includes the blocking Java and Flash ads, which is the 1% left.

im lookin for 1 too. is should not run at startup, should work wit IE6, use less resources n should not slow down IE at startup.
ne suggestions, there r so many choices hard to decide.
