Hi,

Apologies for posting here but I'm not really sure where else to ask! I've tried all manner of things but cannot shake the 'An error has occurred! Port xxxx does not appear to be open.' error message on the uTorrent test page and I'm currently flying along at about 24kbps on a well seeded torrent.

I'm using a Netgear router and have followed the examples perfectly from Portfoward.com (http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DG834G/Utorrent.htm) but still no joy.

•  It says to setup the services: http://i45.tinypic.com/2w5vuh0.png
•  Then the rules: http://i49.tinypic.com/f1fs0i.png (I entered my PC's IP, I assume that's right?)
•  I also checked the uPnP settings: http://i50.tinypic.com/20048zt.png
•  And just to confirm, I think uTorrent is setup okay: http://i45.tinypic.com/9ibyg3.png

... I have no idea why it isn't working properly - I'm wondering if it's something to do with me disabling NAT or DCHP (every thing on my network has it's own IP address, externally as well as internally)

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this I'd really appreciate it, because the speed my torrents go at the moment I may as well not even bother, hehe.

Thanks

Quick update - I've tried adding a rule for both my current PC (xxx.xxx.xxx.210) as well as my router (xxx.xxx.xxx.209) at the same time and still no joy unfortunately.

you look to be adding your pc's external IP address (youre crossing it out so it leads me to believe that) The ip address should look like:

10.0.x.x
172.16.x.x
192.168.x.x

depending on your network configuration

turn on dhcp and nat as well.

Sorry only jsut got back to checking this link :$

Many thanks for the info - unfortunately I can't re-enable DCHP or NAT due to how my network is setup (real pain) but ... of all things, it was my bloody Windows Firewall settings! :$ Can't believe I posted here without checking them thoroughly first, just didn't think it'd entirely block the port like that :(

Sorry :(
