We're proud to introduce our own Seeding Bonus System.

For every hour that you seed a completed torrent you'll be rewarded 1 bonus point. Once you have enough you'll be able to exchange them here (http://vipmusic.org/mybonus.php) for invites, upload credit or a unique title.

The whole community will profit: your ratios will greatly improve and more torrents will stay longer alive.
a good move imo. vipmusic is pretty hard to seed on and torrents longevity is not very good.

It's about freakin' time that they do something about this. But it looks like the amount of points required to buy even 1GB is set way too high. Especially considering you get 1 point an hour for every completed torrent that you seed.

i like it too, but seeding is ridiculously hard. ive had many many dl's stop at 70 percent, sometimes 90 percent. i hate that. not only do you not get your file, but you mess up your ratio.

i must admit that their bonus system is quite ridiculous

67500 points for one invite? And you get one point per seeding torrent per hour?

Perhaps what they really want is increasing activity or ensure torrents are kept seeded in exchange for rewards in an hypothetical future. Unless you're seeding 1000 torrents

even with 1000 torrents seeded 24/7, you'd need to wait 180 days to get 4 invites... lol

You might wanna check your calculator again.

Users are awarded 1 point per hour per seeding torrent:

1,000 seeding torrents x 24 hours = 24,000 bonus points per day. 180,000 / 24,000 = 7.5 days (not 180 days).

Regardless, the bonus system is still quite unreasonable. They should chop off a "0" at the end of each requirement to make it more fair.

I think the problem is people don't like to seed anymore. (Generally speaking, not just on VIP) Back in the day you had to make an effort to seed and keep your account ratio in good order. Now I think it's nearly impossible to get banned on any site for low ratio with all the freeleech and bonus systems.

Let's try an example. Say the average release size is 75MB and you want to earn enough points to exchange for 1GB (7200 points) by seeding 1GB worth of torrents (so 1024/75=14 torrents) 14 torrents x 24 = 336. 7200/336 = 22 days.

So is seeding 22 days (while uploading nothing) that unreasonable? Chopping off a 0 from each requirement would mean only seeding 2.2 days.. and if you actually seeded 22 days, then you'd get 10GB for the 1GB downloaded, does that seem right?

Some users are actually concerned this might be a negative thing as people might start seeding loads of torrents at 0.1kbps. Is it a perfect system? No. Is it an unreasonable system? No. (At least I don't think so.)

At the end of the day if you're concerned and want to discuss it a better place might be the VIP forums.
