Best of luck.

I really think this is the best chance England will have to win any world cup. You have a stunningly good team. If they win this game they should win the group, which would mean they would miss the All Blacks until the final.

This is a very important game. It's like the Brazil Game in the football world cup. The winner was destined to win the whole thing.

Thanks. i really believe England will win the Cup without too much bother. we have prpved that we are the best in the world havig already beaten all the top countries so far this season. Got the rand Slam and now its time for the World Cup.

Come on Boys dont dissapoint :D

Careful with the, win the world cup without too much bother type attitude.

You have fallen foul of that sort of thing before. It's also the sort of statement which lead people to want you to lose.

I think I am a reasonable person most of the time. However reading what you said makes one begin to think that we wouldn't mind if the arrogant bar stewards got beat after all.

I can think of at least 2 grand slams which were in the bag right up till you played the last game.

Quarter Finals Beckon.

I can see South Africa mauling New Zealand in a tight game (on todays evidence against Wales). But i think New Zealand will scrape home.

England will not worry about Wales (they have played their best game of tourney already) Engalnd to by 20/30 points. :P

Australia will beat Scotland comfortably 30/40+, sorry but Scotland are crap at the moment. :(

And the match of the Quarters for me is France v Ireland. This is a very intriguing match, it could go either way, France have the pedigree to beat Ireland, but i hope Ireland can show how good they really are on the day, O'Driscoll is good enough to get in a world best 15. Ireland to win by a small margin.

Quarter-finals

Saturday 8 Nov
QF1 New Zealand v South Africa 7.30am (UK) Telstra Dome, Melbourne.

QF2 Australia v Scotland 10am (UK) Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

Sunday 9 Nov
QF3 France v Ireland 7.30am (UK) Telstra Dome, Melbourne.

QF4 England v Wales 10am (UK) Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.

Good luck to all the home nations, fu aussies....it's coming!! :P

THANX to wales for giving us a real chllenge. great game.

ok , we lost.. but i'm making the point england rely on penalties to much. but the welsh team were un disciplined which cost us the game.

And they played well, they suprised myself and a lot of others, they can hold their heads high.
I also have Welsh connections, my daughter was born in Swansea & we lived in Llanelli for 5 years. I worked for S.W.A.L.E.C and worked from their depot right next door to Stradey park. I saw Australia play Argentina in the 91 world cup at Stradey park.
At least you came out of the tournament with a lot of hope. ;)

I dont care who wins that match, if nz win we(Eng) get a chance to play them in a rugby world cup at long last, if we get the aussies we get an easier game.
I predict nz-36 aussies- 12 and eng- 32 france-22.
Good luck anyway. ;)

Half time.
England 12 - France 7.
The French look fucked at half time.
England have them beat in scrum and lineout.
Johnny's got the wind behind him for the 2nd half.
The French ARE being mauled.
The French have faces of defeat already, they know England are up for this one.
Next half will show.

Edited: Shock & awe is being applied.

I can't watch the match, but the description on the BBC, makes it sound like a bit of a crap match. Seems to be strewn with errors (is it because of the rain?) and basically Englands just relying on Wilko for reliable points instead of gambling on an attempt for a try. I also heard the crowd are booing the repeated penalty attempts. Is it as bad as that? Is the difference between the teams just down to the kickers ?(I saw Michalak has missed a few)

As i said (i have watched the whole match)....the French were MAULED.
The French did not even score in the 2nd half.
Richard Hill is back and England looked like they were always in control.

In that weather the drop kick/penalty tactics work very well (as proven by England) the french tried to push forward for a try and look where that got them.
We were forcing errors from the french side by keeping the pressure on.
Cant wait for the final, I'll be in my local pissed by 10:00 :)

The French lost beofre a ball was kicked, as soon as Richard Hill was included in the 15 i knew we would win.
Australia WILL lose in the final if we are able to start with the same 15.

My men of the match were...
Dawson.
Wilkinson.
Dallaglio.

I'm sick of hearing the whinging about us scoring from the boot, just how long have we been playing with penalty kicks and drop goals in the game?

Really is a lame excuse for losing.

England-France was a bad football match. Maybe next time the english will play like real hombres fighting to crush the ball beyond the line, and not like pussies shooting the ball everywere because they are afraid that a valiant french rugbyman hurt them. Also with this f*cking rain, it was like a home match for england. Anyway I'm glad to know that they will loose tha final match

Best of luck to both teams.

It should be a cracking final. I would put England as favourites, though a lot depends on whether Wilkinson is on form.

He was not great in the 1/4 against Wales. At least in the first half. He really needs Catt (sp) supporting him to be at his best.

Richard Hill is the other really important player. He makes a lot of things happen.

It will really be up to the Aussies to beat England. However with home advantage and their will to be winners they may just beat the odds.

Like I said, it should be a cracker.

Congrats to the Aussies for hosting another faultless sporting occasion, you really are getting the hang of it now. :D

Billy its good to know your roots still tug at your heart strings, my uncle died in Canberra 18 months ago. He moved down under in the late 40's after the war, with his German wife Inga. He always remembered his roots too, he would of loved to see England playing the Aussies (in their own back yard) in any world cup final. So i am just thrillled to be alive to experience the occasion.

If England do win in the final, he will be having a chuckle to himself.

England have announced the 15 for the final on Saturday.
It is probably the 15 Woody would of picked before the tournament started, so no excuses, this is our best 15 win or lose.

England: 15.

15 Josh Lewsey. 14 Jason Robinson. 13 Will Greenwood. 12 Mike Tindall. 11 Ben Cohen. 10 Jonny Wilkinson. 9 Matt Dawson. 8 Lawrence Dallaglio. 7 Neil Back. 6 Richard Hill. 5 Ben Kay. 4 Martin Johnson (capt). 3 Phil Vickery. 2 Steve Thompson. 1 Trevor Woodman.

For sure it's 15 good enough to beat any team on their day.
Saturday is THAT day.

Found some good & funny comments on another site,

Remember every Aussie will have a chip on his shoulder prior to this game. Mike "Crash Bang" Tindall is the one person big enough and stong enough to remove it by force! No doubt if we win, they will all have two chips on their shoulders after the game; at least they'll be balanced!
Phil Tillman, London

Its a simple game. Let Tindall bang it up for a while to tire them out - then bring on Catt to put the ball behind them and turn them around. That worked even for the Irish!
Rob Dey, London

Tindall has been part of our fantastic winning team for ages. We needed Catt to calm down Jonny and now he is back on song bringing back Tindall is the sensible option so we can shut down Mortlock who was brilliant aginst the All Blacks.
Patrick Smith, Nottingham

Wilkinson scored all of England's points against France. I don't think it's unfair to say he was the main thrust behind their progress.

What's wrong with it is that Rugby is about scoring tries too, dropgoals alone do not an exciting game make.

And I've never said or implied that I know everything, especially not just because I'm a moderator here

You gotta be kidding lame boy.
It takes 14 players to set up positions where they can attack oppositions defences and pressurize them into FORCED errors where johhny steps up and bangs them over. Even the drop goal was set up by Johnson pounding the ball an extra 10 yards forward allowing johnny more time and space for the kick.
Get it right BOY, Johnny is only part of the machine.

I think anyone who gets as far as they did should be very proud - i'm obviously pleased for England because we have been suffering somewhat lately.

Nuff said on that Sheila - My New Years Resolution is to not get too involved with political/sports/child-porn/racist topics. I shall just say my piece and try to restore some balance without getting involved in others arguments. Nothing wrong in arguing of course, i'm all for it, but i'm sure you understand.
