I'm new to converting,
I've just done my first .AVI-Mpeg2 (svcd)
But it plays on my dvd player with a nice picture but there's no sound  ?????
Anyone know why??
I just used the "wizard" on TMPGEnc!

Cheers! B)

Does the .mpg play on your comp with sound?

If not then TMPGEnc can ot find the correct decoder. Try using beesweet to convert the audio to mp2.

a. Open VirtualDub, select File --> Open video file?, and open the AVI file.
b. Select Audio --> Direct Stream Copy and Audio --> Source Audio.
c. Select File --> Save Wav?, select a file name and click OK.

. Convert wav to mp2

a. Open BeSweet
b. On Input, select the wav created in the pervious step.
c. Check ?Use MPA Decoder? and ?Downconvert Sample Rate?
d. On the Output drop down menu, select MP2.
e. I usually use 128KB/s so click on the Copy Command to Clipboard, then open the command prompt, paste the command and edit the ?B? parameter to 128 and press enter.
f. You should get a MP2 file with the sound of the movie.

4. Using the MPEG Tools in TMPGEnc, Multiplex the video and audio files.

a. Select File --> MPEG Tools, select the Simple Multiplex tab.
b. At the top, Select --> "MPEG-1 VideoCD non-standard"
c. On Video Input, click on Browse and select the m1v file created on step 3.
d. On Audio Input click on Browse and select the MP2 file created on step 1.
e. On Output File click on Browse and select the output MPG file name and location.
f. Click on Run and wait a few minutes

That is all courtisy of vegasguy, a great guide that he posted on a difrrent forum. Cheers vegas.

Thanks for the help you guys! :beerchug:

One more question though,

I have a film (matrix reloaded) that is 2 long .AVI files, How do I join these so i can then convert them into SVCD's? is it best to just convert them as they are then join the MPEG's then divide them into say 3 SVCD's? if so can TMPGEnc do this??

Cheers again!

Isn't there an easier way?

I hate all this encoding stuff.

Wots all this stuff about Kvid? is it like an all in one solution?

You can do this as well, Just extract the audio using virtualdub by going file>open video file then audio>full processing mode then file>save wav. Once done then get a program named Headache (make sure u get all plugins) then load the .wav set the destination to .mp2 and then set it to the quality u want by cliking options twice then let that go then finally u get a program named bbmpeg then u go to start encoding load your vs stream (that's the .m1v or m2v file) then the as stream 1 (the .mp2 u just made) then go to program and set it to whatever u made .m1v is VCD and .mp2 is SVCD then once done with that hit start. and when that finishes u will have a .mpg.
Also, next time use Tmpgenc to encode and put it on System (Audio+Video)

I understand that if there is any easy way, the quality would be worse, its just so annoying.
