depends on what kind of a computer you get...if you get a cheap computer it will be good for gaming for maybe 1 year? and wont run games so good....i suggest either building your own pc or upgrading your pc... :)

@Keikan You can build a computer like that, for about £500 UKP, thats probably about $700 USD or something along those lines.

Octopussy
10-20-2003, 02:15 AM
Yea it does...like I said before thats mostly the required amount...the game will be OK not that awesome but if you want seroius gaming you need 2x that.

Keikan
10-20-2003, 02:24 AM
I can't internet shop :(

and i just don't want the game to lag, i want it to run smooth like not slow motion

10-20-2003, 02:26 AM
You dont need an internet shop, just buy the parts seperatly and put it together your self, find a cheap computer shop.

Always comes out cheaper.

if you want to build your own computer, you should always order from the internet because the parts are way cheaper. the best site to get parts from is www.newegg.com, or www.colorcases.com, and www.colorcase.com

Octopussy
10-20-2003, 03:07 AM
Ummm NO! His pc is like 400 mhz he won't be able to run condition zero....

Dont know where you live, but here its actually cheaper to buy it from a shop, most of them are cheaper, and safer. No chance of credit fraud

Meh, I'd prefer not to risk it, I wouldnt purchase from online only places, but I would purchase from shops who have a web site also, such as Game ltd etc...

word
build it yourself!!!!!
there are sites that can tell you what components that are compatible

brandcomps are also hard to upgrade cause of minimal space
and minimal noise making so everything runs real hot
so if u change something it'll probably burn and fry
had that prob with a dell a while ago

I've always bought Dell and never had a problem. I built two PC's as well and it cost near the same amount as building (top notch system).

Hehe, many games at the moment only just utilise the 128 in video cards, and 32mb cards are still popular, so im pretty sure 512 aint going to be popular for a loooong time ;)

AMD 2500+ is a good processor. PPl that buy that processor mostly think about overclocking it, because it overclocks well. You should really start shopping off the net. I used to be scared to shop off the net. Just make sure they have a secure site. Newegg is the best place to shop. I just built my first PC 3 weeks ago. ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, AMD 2400+(2.0GHz) overclocked to 2230MHz. Connect 3D ATI Radeon 9800 pro, and some other good shit. I Had bought a HP computer in Jan and the damn thing didn't have any AGP slots, so I decided to build a PC. I did all this just to get a 9800pro. My HP computer had 2.0GHz celeron, 40GB harddrive, 512MB, and a GeForce 4 440mx (shitty card). If anyone thinks of getting a pc from a store make sure its Dell. Dells are better than HP, Emachine, Compact, and what ever else thats out there. If you have the money you could always go for Alienware, but I would build my own PC before I go that direction.

FX 5200 is a shit card also. My girlfriends dad has that card and the graphics on games look the same way as my old GF 4 440mx. If u get a 9600pro then you will be set for 2-3 years not a FX 5200. Remember you want to play future games that have DX9.

10-21-2003, 07:28 AM
The 5200 is the budget card of the FX family, what do you expect from it...? Also, the card will last 2-3 years, perhaps even more. Many recently released games even support 16/32mb video cards, which can be generations old. <_<

Same here.I live in Halifax Nova Scotia (Canada) and we have a pretty good market here. There are so many shops here in Halifax that the prices are insanely low.I can find prices at a local store that I can't find on any of the internet sites.

HP sucks!! they expect u to be a noobie at everything, so they make it so "easy to use" and they lock all the advanced features. my friend got a media center, and they locked his bios!!! wtf... assholes. my old comp was an hp. it was ok... somewhat reliable. not much hardware problems, but still, they think ur stupid, so they throw away all the advanced features

Minimum system requirements really depend on your view of minimum gaming standards ... The minimum system requirements posted in the booklets are a load of bull, seriously you will have a worse time playing the game than if you didn't at all.

For example, for a decent performance in UT2003:

P4EE 2.53
nVidia Ti4600
1024 PC3200 DDR2
Gigabyte P4 Titan
And of course a SB Audigy card.

Now, thats for the MINIMUM requirments.

I had that system when UT2003 came out, and it lagged a lot too, especially on some of the more demanding levels.

Right, now for the full experience:

P4C 3.2
Gainward CoolFX5900U GS
Soundblaster Audigy 2 (now ZS)
1024 PC3700 DDR2 From OCZ
Gigabyte Titan

Even with those specs, I find that the game lagged slightly on full setts on the more demanding levels.

Remember that some of the custom levels are extremely demanding on graphics cards, especially those with those awesome magma effects.

Really, minimum specs are the best specs you are willing to put the money aside to acheive ... If you only just reach the so called 'minimum' requirements, there really isn't any point in getting the game untill you have something that is significantly better than those 'minimum' specs.

no miffo your right but this guy wishes he knew alot about computers and specs for gaming and is trying to act as if how good your PC specs are can measure how big his penis is  . if you want good perfromance with decent quality i'd say a 2.0 GHz CPU 512 DDR and a 9600 Pro. if thats out of your budget bump down the CPU to a 1.8 and the GPU to a 9200 128 MB card. cause i can run MP2 with eevrything high on my fx 5200. i even ran the HL2 beta leak on my card with few skips and slow downs. peopel can get the best game to run with eevrything on with a 2.4C 9800 Pro and a gig of 3200 DDR without going under 20 FPS. the only exception is Splinter Cell. which still can make the newest video card work hard. Doom 3 can even run better on some machines then Splinter Cell can.

You sure you didn't have to lower the setts past highest?

Damn you are lucky then if you didn't.

Stat fps >> I really don't think you'll be getting a decent fps (60-70)

And I highly doubt you'll get enough to utilize a 200fps monitor.

How much did you OC that then?? and how?? You got Dry Ice cooling or something??!!

don't really know cause I don't usually play it on that tin can
just tried to see if it would run on it so me and my bud could play mp
at the same time with the same serialnr over the net and so on
just wanted to state that the game works even if you don't have the latest flashything comp
never said that the settings were set to highest

normally on my own comp I have the settings as high as they can go without lag
and for UT2k3 it was as high as they would go
