Well it is, here is my proof. <_<
I was looking for a link i know has been posted quiet a few times in this forum. It's a great site for all dvd divx format players. When i type "dvd players" or "divx players" this is what it finds, a whole bunch of irrelevant threads.
It's my only real gripe about this place. :D

That's because it search for keywords so all u have to do is refine your search by stating what section it is in or something similiar like newer or older.

Can a search for exact phrase be done (like in Google when we add the quotes)?

Everytime we search for something that has more than 1 keyword, results will come up if the thread contains one OR the other keyword. As a result, lots of unrelated stuff to our search will come up.

For the search to be more accurate, it should search for one AND the other keyword.

Also why isn't it possible to search for words with 3 characters?

Exactly. And that is why I agree with Coco, the forum search kinda sucks. But hey, its better than nothing.

I do try refining my search by looking in specific forums, and also changing the keyword, but it still hardly ever finds what i'm looking for. It is a bit better for finding help in general, but when looking for specific posts it is a bit weak.
But hey, wgaf it's a gr8 site besides that. ;)

search for all terms in the title. usually narrows it down by a lot. but of course you have to remember the post title on your part. then try to recall the search date criteria, if you simply placed "all dates", you are obviously gonna get a whole lot of results.

If you can manipulate the search function in the right way, you will have no problems finding what you need. Although sometimes after doing all that can be done and still you can't find anything, then  .

If you posted in the thread before, try searching through your own post, looking by the no. of posts you have you won't have a hard time browsing thru them to come up with what you want.

I aint gonna critisize, but maybe this is why so many n00bs ask stoopid questions all the time - they simply give up as the search dosnt find what they want.

This is only UKMans opinion and shouldnt be construed as grounds for banning him for life.

Why include songs? This will show all posts that have the word songs in a post.

http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=Se...creeching+songs (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=579bd2b700f02d3ff2b8449af34043f8&search_in=posts&result_type=topics&highlite=screeching+songs)

If You do a search for just screeching in the proper forums (Problems and Musicworld) You will get:

http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=Se...lite=screeching (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=aebc8b25cf7c7cd4971238723bb94533&search_in=posts&result_type=topics&highlite=screeching)

in general searches its ok, but when you need to find a specific post that you have forgotten the name to, it fails most times. :(

EDITED..... sorry i meant to say for example> when u have forgotten the post title, but you know its about (lets say) dvd playes, and you will notice the post title when you see iy, but when you search dvd players in all the proper forums it will NOT find it.

i have to agree with coco/adster on this one - a n00b wouldnt have the slightest idea of what topic subject to start his/her search in. Also, not all posts are even in the correct topic anyway - even if the Admins do try hard to correct that.

I've had the same problem many times. Even when I norrowed down the search by as much as I can, it doesn't help. Not to mention almost the first search page are Pinned topics that have almost nothing to do with the search keywords... Is there anyway to help fix this?

Think about it, idiot.

A while, guests could actually search without registering. I don't see the point in them registering to do a search.
