Linux Redhat & Linux Mandrake

Thosem are the ones I have used so far from the linux world and it has impressed me more then XP, the ease of use I found to an extent was easier then MS products, except when you have to get passed all the user settings <_<

I suspect that once I am more familiar with how Linux works I will enjoy the more advanced versions more.

But so far it has to be the above mentioned.

WinXP. The only errors I've ever seen have been hardware problems - faulty, rather than incompatible.

WTF.... Windows 2003 Home Edition. Don't think it exists. Also i don't think you can get Windows 2000 Pro off kazaa, I tried like back in janaury but you may be able to get now. I just d/l off suprnova.org. The best OS IMO is Windows Xp Professional Corporate.

well Mandrake linux is my favorite (no comments from the die hard linux users yet please)

but it has issues with my new motherboard ( on board nic, and raid controller), so im gonna grit my teeth and give Gentoo a shot later in the week ( after i get my tv caps encoded and edited)

It's true that the core of windows is the same, many parts of the system are very similar across the two products. We stopped all other work. We got the architecture people to look at each part of the code, and work out how would people attack it, and based on that tried to reduce the surface area, what's the exposed part of the product, the ways the system was listening to the network.

Remember this is marketing hype though. I think it is just an XP update to make the server and security functions work. Sort of.

I'll stay with windows2000- any version, and most linux mainstream builds.
