you need to convert it to an MPEG, you need tempenc

because it's an Xvid you need to change some settings... (sorry forgot which ones)

some has just told u get main concept encoder that will convert it for you, then u need to get a program to auther it, if i was u i would get ulead dvd movie factory 2 coz its the easest to use then u can burn your dvd, but i will tell u now its not as easy useing a few programs, ther is a lot to learn, and alot of things that can go wrong. its took me months to learn how to do it, and even now i stll get problems <_<

we already told you tmpgenc, its the best and easiest, and it has the most functions

all you need is tmpgenc to encode the whole thing, then nero to burn it

You might want to try Nero Visionexpress.

I just experimented with it and converted the file "Farscape 2 Cut Scenes.avi" directly into dvd-format.

At a glance there does not seem to be any quality loss (although I bet there is always quality loss in conversions).

However, I must warn you that the file I tried was only 28mb large. It would be interesting to hear of the result of a 700mb avi conversion...

And, by the way, for some reason you need directx9 to install visionexpress.

Please put a post here regarding how it worked out.

:santa:

nero works great, FOR BURNING, it sucks ass as a encoder, even main concept is better than nero at encoding, and I don't like the blocklyness (is that a word) and pixelasation (not sure of that one either :P ) that main concept gives, best results use tmpgenc (slowest best settings)

Hmmm, that might be true.

But is that experience based on fun moments with Nero or Nero visionexpress????

:D

I have tried every thing, tmpgenc gives the best results, just use nero to BURN, thats what its made for, it just happens to encode

i wouldnt say tmpgenc is the best, so many people have trouble with it, you just need to go over to dvdrhelp and every other post is about people haveing trouble. i use canapus pro coder no wthat is good may not be the best but good, but for peole just starting out on the long road off encodeing i would recomemd main concept encoder very easy to useand very fast, i think the last time i used it it only took like and hour and a half to encode a 700meg xvid. as for you azzz going on like that an't going to help i think sumone has already told u to go over to dvdrhelp them guys over ther live and breath dvd encodeing, most of us un here have learnt everythinhg we no from ther.
