Hey everyone, I'm new to the filesharing talk world but have been involved in the filesharing community for some years now. I was just wondering what everyones opinions on the best trackers for world music are, public and otherwise. Thanks in advance

rutracker.org and what.cd.

What he said. :P
Waffles is just a subset of what.cd, if at all, when you look at the big picture.
rutracker and what.cd cover almost all genres of music you can expect to find on the interwebz.

Do you happen to know what an "online translator" is?

Even if not, I bet you can take a guess at what it does.

Looks like you tried actually visiting the place. :P

http://rutracker.org/forum/profile.php?mode=register

Click on that link, and use Google Translate to know what to type in each box. That should get you in.

Well, I can't really say yes or no, since I don't know what your music tastes are. But if you have What and Waffles, chances are you're covered.

waffles and what.cd I am using for the flac and for downloading old music albums, like 1990 to 2000
and TT using for trance, house.

I'll have to check out rutracker if for no other reason than I take russian in school. I've been looking for waffles/what.cd invites but I'm rather new to the invite trading scene. oh well in due time I suppose

I wouldn't recommend trading.

hm yeah I know some people have gone through the irc interview and stuff. I never really use irc, I never even reinstalled mirc when I got my new computer. Guess i'll give it a go.

I've just started checking it out, it's got some good stuff, only downside is it's in russian so I just find it harder to find what I want and browse

You can use a translator, although I've never found the need to do so for typing what I want in the search bar and pressing Enter.

yeah it autotranslates with google toolbar but sometimes theres a lot of gaps etc. I like to browse too like if I type something general I kinda want to look around that and see what comes up. At any rate, i've found some good stuff on there so far.

just got into waffles so i'll probably forget about the what.cd invite but regardless. good stuff. Any reason they don't allow discographies though? I thought that was kind of lame.

Any reason they don't allow discographies though?

Probably to keep things more organized. It's easier to find an album if it's posted as a separate torrent rather than just another folder on a huge upload.

True, but I feel like it's more labor intensive for someone trying to download say the entire rolling stones discography to go and download every album seperately than it would be for someone who's looking for one album to only download that one folder out of the entire discography.

what.cd is all by itself, if your looking for anything difficult to find like i am sometimes, its amazing. besides the others mentioned i usually check theoccult.bz. its not a complete resource for world music but ive been lucky to find one or two gems i was looking for there in flac.

haha wow I'm kinda amazed this thread is still going. I made it onto waffles and what.cd and use rutracker occasionally, though I find it being in russian kinda inconvenient. Funkysouls was a good one that I found through this thread, but I think I need an invite to funkytorrents? I'm not sure, my username for funkysouls wouldnt work.
