Would totally ridicule the concept of 'private', innit?

Haha, so true, but I think he wants to search all his private trackers at once.

Although it is possible, its not really sustainable. Assuming that some one could get an account on all the private trackers, on the more closed sites, the search engine would be lucky to have 1 account to search with. The search engine has to have an active account to get the most up to date searches for each site. It would be very easy for a site moderator/owner to search on the public engine, and find which account is searching that term on their site, and disable it. Unless the tracker is insecure, this really isn't a viable idea.

Ok, after writing all of that, I suppose they wouldn't have to search each site, they could just index all the torrents themselves into a database, then search to that instead of each site. But then the seed/leech stats would not be up to date... Of course they'd have to remove their announce key from each torrent... I dunno, seems like a lot of work for....what exactly...?

BTjunkie searches a number of private torrent sites. The search results will show a lock icon and the name of the site/tracker next to each private torrent.

The 'Torrent Harvester' should be able to do this. At least in the past it was.

...

Not really all that difficult. All sites offer an RSS feed. RSS + specific filter = instant queuing of torrents I'm interested in every 5 minutes. People do this all the time. :P

This mechanism would only be need to modified minimally to offer search functionality. Complete RSS, no filter, stored privately and search with any aggregator.

BTJunkie also steals passkeys.

That's why it got so much love in the Gazelle source code...

// F****** btjunkie piece of s***
if(strpos($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'], 'btjunkie.org')) {
// This code is executed if someone is downloading a torrent from btjunkie
// Do what you want here, be creative. ;)
}

Thats been around long before gazelle.
I use similiar code to prevent some common open signup checkers from working on my site..

If you like that check this code sometime ;)

if(strtolower(substr($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'],0,9))=='cfnetwork'){
header('Location: http://torrentfreak.com/files/Tracker%20Spy.dmg');
exit();
}
if(strtolower(substr($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'],0,35))=='Torrents Open Registrations Checker'){
header('Location: http://torrentfreak.com/files/Tracker%20Spy.dmg');
exit();
}
if(strtolower(substr($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'],0,35))=='http://btracs.com/index_ranking.htm'){
header('Location: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDfCHLCLs3I');
exit();
}

Makes the user download a 50mb file from the site that hosts the tracker checker script every time they get to my site in their list of sites to check. Not to mention it never really checks my site LOL I been using this script for a couple of years and it only costs the originators their bandwidth on the file people download every time :)

There also one that sends you to a broken youtube click as well for your enjoyment.

I remember that YouTube video. It was "people getting owned hard" or something similar. :lol:

Why did you block open registration checkers, by the way? Server resource concerns?

To make people check the hard way... It still uses the same amount of resources either way really.
Since technically the site doesn't use additional resources till you submit the form.

Yeah... I had a few differant youtube ones. One was the rickroll clip, another was and owned clip... there were a few others as well. Depends where you were coming from really. :)

One thing about mininova/btjunkie etc, its great free advertising if you upload nulled torrents to them, and open up.

when you just open up you just get the same crap in time and time again (those that know of the tracker, and have been members before)

Using BTjunkie etc, brings a lot more noobs in, but tbh they are better members for the most part.

BTjunkie searches a number of private torrent sites. The search results will show a lock icon and the name of the site/tracker next to each private torrent.

Those torrents are with stolen passkeys & most likely to get banned from respective trackers/sites.

consider that there is no external search engine that could search on higher level private trackers. so u can search only stuff from free-reg trackers or low level private trackers
