View Full Version : The Daily Show high-def or x264, tracker quest

I'm wondering if any of the trackers have the 1080i or 720p episodes being added regularly. Alternatively, standard definition x264 would be great, but I think that might still be too futuristic for most.

For the past couple of weeks I've been getting my Daily Show fix off of Hulu, I have an XBOX 360 and Hulu Plus subscription, so it does make it pretty easy. However, once in awhile I am eager to see the episode a little earlier than they make it available.

It seems like the Daily Show in HD has been completely abandoned by all. I can only go so far as to watch an XVID on a small computer screen, it looks like shit on my TV so I avoid watching them that way. Since I'd be at a computer anyway, I'd more likely be streaming them than grabbing the XVID. Feel free to troll the show, HD snobbery, or the like, no objections from me about that. I'm pretty hesitant about the tracker world in general, so I'm just putting out some feelers.

theres tons being added on various sites. Also, x264 SD content is just plain shit IMO. I think x264 is for HD and XviD is for SD. Simple as that.

All you've managed to demonstrate with that opinion is a lack of knowledge. One could also argue why, in their opinion, having oxygen in our air is shit. It's a type of stance that begs for some sort of supporting fact to avoid seeming clueless.

Since you weren't able to recognize that initially, let me use an easy analogy that points out how ridiculous your statement sounded:

Also, good beer when you're going out is just plain shit IMO. I think good beer is for when you sit at home alone and piss water beer is for when you go out. Simple as that.

Your reply sounds lamer than the post you replied to.

what's the point of this thread?

Point was, find 720p or 1080i versions of Daily Show in your respective trackers. Though I doubt they are there. Making that assumption, I'm just huffing and puffing.

Though I doubt they are there. Making that assumption, I'm just huffing and puffing.

There is actually quite a few of them. SCC has probably all 720p encodes of the show there have been this year from the scene, HDBits has even more of 1080i caps, there are also many 720p releases on usenet. though they are not uploaded on the daily basis in these places, since scene doesn't release HD version every day if the nfo databases sites are right... so you might be better off searching for some other place than torrents/scene

//seems like hdbits is the place, 93 1080i caps this year so far...

I'm a usenet user, so I know what's available on there, just the pointless XVID crap

I have a feeling people are voting the third option because they like how it was worded, or also to spite me. I thought I made this public so that I could see who voted, but I goofed something. I would have harassed you, so I guess... count your blessings?

I voted for that because I like my blocks. :snooty:

On a serious note, I don't have an HD screen, so 700/1400 MB rips suit me just fine video and sound quality-wise, and also let me store more movies (I keep the ones I liked in case I ever want to watch them again).

PS: please don't harass me

press to number of votes on any option and you see who voted what option.

Edit: and BTW anon SD x264 doesn't take up more space than XviD, it's just far higher quality and less blocky at same size, + black/dark is actually visible, unlike the XviD equivalent. Picture yourself a dark 700MB horror movie in XviD, then know that almost all of the annoying artifacts are gone if it was X264.

But it isn't harassment, for serious the first option was for you. You could get even more content at smaller file sizes and at better quality. I don't have to harass you to know that you would truly enjoy it. For instance, progressing towards this direction http://filesharingtalk.com/nzbs/movies/x264sd/

That's what I mean, I can't click anything on it. No links, no hovertext, I get squat.

Both mjmacky and me are using the Black Stealth skin. Apparently, the link to see who voted for what is colored white... over a white background. :pinch:

Using "select all" or moving your mouse near the left of the percentages should tell you where the link to see the results is. Alternatively, just go here:

Ah you're right, but I tried that before and didn't notice them when I selected text, guess I just had to know where to look. I also tried tabbing through to some links and nothing came up (box was invisible too). Damn me and my fondness for the dark arts

So after viewing all the results, Cabalo (the greatest mod on the internet today) is the only one who answered correctly.

Your post could have been used to bump that pointless thread about X264 and SD instead. :|

I decided to take your advice, and bump my pointless thread only to quote you and let you know I have done the following:
I looked at page 1 of your recent posts (http://filesharingtalk.com/search.php?do=finduser&userid=228490&contenttype=vBForum_Post&showposts=1). What I've noticed is that you mostly stick to some terribly uninteresting BT talk. I also noticed that you failed to make any interesting comments in that page of posts.
Now it may be unfair to base my entire opinion of you on the most recent 20 posts out of almost 2000 (roughly 1 %), but you are a boring person. The fact that I'm addressing you has suddenly made you more interesting, and you're welcome for that.
Also, you don't get it. The replies you have directed at me have shown that you don't understand what's going on if we're not talking about private BT bullshit.

Hmm... am I missing something, or didn't asji answer the initial question sufficiently on second page of this thread already?

SCC has roughly all of the x264 Daily Show scene releases, GFT and SceneHD have quite a few, too. TL and IPT only have a few. I'm not on HDBits so I can't comment on that one, guess you have to take asji's word for it.

So check out SCC or HDbits is what I'd suggest, too.

I don't know, it's not like it has been definitively answered, it's a null hypothesis situation. What I'm referring to is RECENT daily shows, it seems 720p/x264 has dropped off the map completely as of late (only 2 x264 releases in the past 30 days). I'm not a member of any of the relevant BT sites, which is why I extended the inquiry to the FST public. So when I read asji's post, I interpreted it as being the earlier part of the year and not lately.

These are the dates that do exist (since March 10th):
23 March
30 March
05 April
25 April
27 April
17 May

I would be more inclined to believe that 1080i's do exist, I just wish they were being posted to Usenet. Other than HDBits (and RARELY on usenet), where else would you see the 1080i's get posted?

Anyways, the second reason for this thread is for me to rant about codec standards... and with that, I can carry this thread all the way to eternity

it's ajsi ffs

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart 2011-05-19 1080i PROPER HDTV MPEG-2

followed by 05-19 05-18 05-17 05-16 05-12 05-11 05-10 05-09 05-05 05-04 05-03 05-02 and that's just May

and in my previous post I said that they have 93 releases this year so far, we are 149 days in this year, plus some of those days weren't airing ones, so you can see that they have pretty much most of them. not all, but most of them. getting your hands on them is another question, but I thought somebody would take them outside of hdb... maybe you should start watching fergy or something which gets released in HD every day...

Well that certainly covers it, it's being capped but not encoded into 720p. It is a pain to post large files to newsgroups, so I can see why no one would be casually doing it.

Also I referred to you as asji based on the quote. So I'm here to pass the blame along. Asji or ajsi, none of them mean particularly anything to me, so it's virtually equivalent. OK, enough giving you a hard time, I really appreciate you looking into that. The other thing about the 93 releases, I was assuming many of them are duplicates of the same date, they are only on their 68th episode so far (2011). So that's why I didn't attempt to do the accounting on your reported value.

As for Ferguson, I don't do late night talk shows, they make my insides feel bad.

oh yeah I was skipping pages that were all from 2011 and counted only the last page where 2010/2011 breaks, so I didn't really look through them. as it turns out, there are some 720p encodes as well. now looking at it and checking it with myepisodes.com, they have all 1080i caps this year, and all 720p encodes up untill 03-03. I don't think it's as big of a problem to post 2,5GB releases to newsgroups as to actually get them from hdb
