People post pictures of their desk top all the time.
For instance if they are installing a program, get an error, andcan't figure out how to run it properly they might post a picture of the error.
Now I know ho to post a picture... at least one way.
http://www.maybelline.com/images/splash2/model.jpg
but I just posted that from a website. http://www.maybelline.com/images/splash2/model.jpg
When people are posting images of some error message they are getting, are they posting that image their own personal website, just for the purpose of posting it in a message here?
That seems incredible complicated for just trying to enchance you post?
2nd part is how do you take a screenshot?

You can upload pictures to www.uploadit.org (http://www.uploadit.org)
To take a screenshot press the 'print screen' key on your keyboard then run Paint and click Edit>paste.
You can now name and save the image. Use .jpg to reduce the filesize.
Edit: You can also take a shot of the active window on your screen (if not fullscreen). Press alt+print screen.

On your keyboard is a key called "Print SCreen" - use that then paste into some kind of programme like photoshop or whatever. Edit it to bring the size down. Then post that pic to a pic webhosting site or your own.

If you have photoshop you can use the File>Save for web function.
http://server4.uploadit.org/files/281103-sample.gif
The result is a file size of 33k and still very good quality.

The Paint version I was using would not allow me to save as a jpg, or I don't know how to.

In Paint: File>Save as>Select the 'Save as type' at the bottom.
But you see how important it is to explain thoroughly though
See UKMan. No matter what something is left out.
