Here we go again, "Mark 2". Have fun.

Thanx to Nikita for starting the thread, it's been a laugh.

A quick run down of the rules .. post a pic, we have to guess who, what, or where, etc.

When you think you have the answer, post it, together with a link to a relevent site.

The volcano in the second pic, which last erupted in 1996, is not a clue to the answer, only to the country.

BB correctly guessed that the country was New Zealand. I need the name of the mountain in the first pic, there is not a big choice, and it is the most famous one in the country.

You have the plant, now the variety.

It's well known, produced in small amounts, most is reserved for local sales.

What gets exported is usually cut with columbian or some other variety.

Hawaiian Kona Coffee?

balamm

http://members.shaw.ca/wenpigsfly/smileys/yes.gif

You got it.

Grown only in Kona
Kona is the very special coffee grown on the dark volcanic lava rock slopes of Kona, with enviable consistent quality. Kona coffee is a deliciously rich, medium-bodied and slightly acidic coffee with a heady aroma and complex, winey, spicy taste.

Kona,  on the west coast of Hawaii island (also known as The Big Island), has produced coffee continuously since the early 1800's. The Kona name only applies to beans grown in North and South Kona, and coffee that is grown elsewhere in Hawaii cannot be called Kona coffee.

NotoriousBIC
12-03-2003, 01:22 AM
You got me on the run there, 'cause Kona coffee is a variety of the arabica species which is, as you know, the most common coffee in the world.
Then it dawned on me you were looking for the variety and not the species.
