Am I having a unlucky streak or something? I just downloaded Prince of Persia, instaled it fine but when it try to run it , it says:
Your videocard « NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 » is not supported.
Your videocard does not support some required features ( MIN_SIMULTANEOUS_TEX_4 ).
Your videocard pixel shader version « 0000 » is below the minimum requirements.
Your videocard vertex shader version « 0000 » is below the minimum requirements

Ok.........so in the readme: It clearly states all nVidia Cards are supported, I have the latest drivers for the graphics card, yet the error message states that the bloody game doesnt even support my game.
Dues Ex now this..........This is so stupidly wank it's unbelievable
Anyone have any suggestions?

You card doesn't support a pixel shader, none of the MX series do which sucks ass. I had to upgrade mine to play some of the new games out (ie. POP, Deus Ex 2, Silent Hill 3, Gladiator SOV). What's next?

I think it's simply a case of software driving the hardware market. It's only recently I've noticed games have been released that dont support widely used and not always old video cards, forcing .gamers to upgrade.

An example is Deus Ex where they have used such technology that requires the latest hardware to run and even then it's one of the most demanding games to run .

Well my MX440 performed much better than my Radeon 9200 that I had to "upgrade" to for the same reasons. I loved that card.

I feel your pain Iceman. I just recently upgraded from a TNT2 to a MX440 so I could play Vice City. Even if I wanted to upgrade again, I'd first have to replace my motherboard and power supply. That's why every few years I switch over to console gaming just to get away from all this constantly upgrading the PC bullshit.

Im not saying my mx cars is bad, hell its worked like a beauty for 99% of all the games Ive downloaded, just that recently the last 4 out of 5 games ive downloaded (new releases) are not compatible with my card.
I sincerely hope this isnt a trend for the future.

I found this on the Supr forum, it's a pixel shader emulator and hardware t & l emulator. I haven't tested it but it's worth a try. Just mess around with the settings, and maybe it can help do something for someone.

Its kind of annoying that these games are showing up more frequently lately, but its not the developers fault... blame nvidia for making up such an annoying card.

The thing I dont understand is that the mx series geforce 4 is more than capeable to run these games, yet the more recent games coming out dont even support the mx series. Its stupid really, cause I cant get a card for xmas..........or until my birthday which is in summer. Oh well Im just gonna keep downloading as I have always done...hoping these new games will work.......... then throw a fit when they dont lol

Imagine paying for one of these games, only to find out it won't work on your computer. And most stores won't let you return a game once it's been opened. Thank GOD for file sharing.
