View Full Version : Window Change To View A Thread

How do I describe this problem...? :ermm:

Unlike other Forums I visit, here in the K-lite Forum, when I go to a Forum Topic then click on a specific person's thread (at this point) the window view changes so I have to use the scroll bar on the bottom to view the entire field instead of having everything from the left to the right within my screen area.

Probably something I can easily change in a setting but I'm just not seeing it. Possibly a Windows setting? I have XP Home, IE6.

Thanks,
mrlessk

What screen resolution do you view the board at?

Sometimes pictures posted by the people are too huge. So if you are viewing a picture thread it might happen. Otherwise if it happens even with text-only thread then it could be your resolution.

Hi Virtualbody1234,

I've always used 800x600 as it is set at now. Keep in mind, it only happens in the KL Forums.

I.am could be on to something here.
Other Forums I attend (e.g. Lavasoft, Net-Integration) people do not usually post the huge pix as we do here in KL.
This could be it?

As an example I just went to the Lounge and picked out a thread (Alex.H) where this occurs...here (http://klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=87915)

Could it be the combo of my 800x600 screen resolution with the large pix is the culprit?

Ok folks, here's what I discovered....looks like it is indeed related to my screen resolution after all.
Sparsely, I set it as you suggested at 1152x864, restarted and found out:

>800x600>>NO READING GLASSES REQUIRED

>1152x866, 1280x1024, etc, etc>>WHERE ARE MY READING GLASSES?

Answers the question as to why I've always used 800x600...lol

So, it's compromise time. I'd of course prefer not to have to grab the glasses each time I want to use the comp so, I'll live with the slight inconvenience of having to scroll from left to right while in the KL Forums (or, for that matter, any other forum I may visit where pix are routinely posted).

Let me know if you think I'm off base, missing something, or if you want to add something.

Thanks for your input folks,
mrlessk :bye:

Okay. You're missing something.

Try 1024 X 768. Not too big or too small.

A very popular resolution, and just right for surfing the web.

Ok, tried it. Looks like I'm stuck with the large resolution 800x600. Beyond that requires use of the glasses... and, in a couple of years (or less) will probably need the specs for that too.....anyplace I can download 400x300?...

640x480 is as low as you can go really, and XP doesn't even support that directly.

Yep, not in my settings.

Oh well, this is what keeps people like this in business....Dr. Dean (http://www.cceyewear.com/dde.html)

Most new sites are being designed for this resolution so you might want to change to that and ignore this when people post huge pictures like that.

You just changed from 800 to 1024, as this is just the starting transition, you will notice things being small. But eventually you will get used to it and will love it. Try it out! ;)
You might discover a new side to your eyes  or glasses  you never know.

Check below... This post has been edited.

Since you use 800x600...

I think I know what to do about this.

What skin are you using when viewing the board?

I recommend you set it to 'InvisionBoard Standard'. Click 'My Controls' then look at the lower left for 'Skin and Languages' click there and select the 'InvisionBoard Standard' and click 'Change My Account Options'.
Edit: Sorry, my idea was not right. I just tested it. :(

I also went to see that thread in question at 800x600 and I see what you mean.

In that case it was caused by Alex H posting a wide picture. Nothing we can do about that.

Fascinating! Virtualbody1234, I was not aware of this. Well, I went there and (through no prior action on my part) I was already using "InvisionBoard Standard"....must be the default setting? I might play around with those other ones though and see what happens.

Nice try there Virtualbody1234

Yep, that clone of the KMD is huge....perhaps not the best choice for this exercise....lol

Will do I.am....looks like my eyes need to find a new screen resolution. I'll see if I can get used to something smaller and not need the specs. But, the first look at the smaller size had me reaching for the glasses.

***Just saw your edit Virtualbody1234. So, yes, it's probably the default setting
