View Full Version : Shareaza Or Emule?

I've noticed that Shareaza is MUCH slower than Kazaa Lite. I rarely get to download more than 10 KB/s, and my download speeds average at about 1 KB/s (compared to an average of about 30 KB/s with Kazaa).

However, all of my sources seem to be eDonkey sources. When I look at my files, I don't see too many G1 or G2 sources, but I have sometimes hundreds of eDonkey sources, the vast majority of which are queued.

Would I get better results from eMule? Is there a reason none of the sources I am downloading from are G1 or G2? (Yes, I am connected to G1 and G2)

Your peak reported download speeds indicate that you're running a high speed ISP connection rather than a dial-up connection. So you're also probably running a hardware interface device (router/switcher) which includes a fire wall. So have you reconfigured your hardware firewall settings to assign to Shareaza full TCP access to Port 6346 as its install routine explains? If not, your reported slow download speeds may be entirely explained by that port being blocked to Shareza.

Yeah, I have a dedicated machine that I use for P2P and FTP stuff. I made it the DMZ host.

Emule will probably be the same. the whole edonkey network is like that, queues in the thousands to hundres of thousands. try connecting to G1 and G2, or just G2. Oh and the ed2k network has a a credit system, which is different than FT's. you get points only when you upload to a person and is not stored on your own computer, but on each client you upload to. so the system is on an 'individual' basis instead of a system wide basis

if you er connected to eDonkey and G2 so you get much better results..
and yes you get same result in shareaza and in emule if you are connected to edonkey network...(it's same)
you actully don't need to connect with G1 when you are connected to G2

i actully like shareaza better than emule bcuz i can much quicker/faster in shareaza then in emule..
and u can download same file from G2 and edonkey network so it's downloads even faster...

i think edonkey have much more files/users then Gnutella so there for you gets more results from edonkey network...

and remember you got eDonkey, BitTorrent and of course Gnutella2 in one program  B)

No, G2 and G1 are two different networks, if ur not connected to g1 but get sources form there it might be because u have them in ur alt-source mesh

Shareaza.

Interface means a lot to me and shareaza has the best one. IMO Shareaza has one of the best interfaces of any programs i've used to date (not limited to just p2p), so that's really why I prefer it.

Speed-wise though, it's the same as e-mule (for me at least).
