View Full Version : You Do Not Have The Required Amount Of Posts

So someone sent me a PM in response to one of my questions, and when I try to check it, it says... You Do not have the required amount of posts to use the PM system. So my question is two fold; Why does the message occur? Do I have to start posting all kinds of useless posts just to get my post count up?

Not being a stranger to forums, I tend to go in and read enough to not sound like a complete newb before I start posting all over the place. So Can we fix this, or should I just start posting "ok" msgs all over?

this (http://klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=22373) explains about post counts maybe it should be edited for this reason

Well I have 6 now and it seems to work now. So either someone heard my complaint and fixed it, or more likely I hit the number.

What is this functionality and why is it in place. Seems silly to me. IMO. :dunno:

6 posts are required, well it's not entirely useless.
We've had some folks sign up an account and then start spamming with pm... without making one post, that's impossible now.

We have plenty of those already. One thing you should learn it's the quality not quantity of posts. Please don't go posting 'shit' as it was said just to rack up post count, shouldn't take you long to get 6 decent posts. Make a good 1st impression, not a bad one. ;)

thats a bit miss justice if its a spammer spamming Pms I'm sure the spammer wouldn't have a problem knocking off 6 spam posts in 1 minute when there are no mods online to suspend him/her

Probably some admin can set it down to 2 posts. I think the PM System is essential, isn't it? As this is a board to share files & thoughts?

It makes perfect sense, now that I am over 6 posts :) I just thought something was busted.

I agree with internet.news, but I think the minimum should be set down to one post, because the PM system is an important part of a forum, if people want to communicate without everyone seeing what they're saying.

i dont use PMs that much. I have been here a while (or atleast i think i have) but yet have only used the PM system 5 or 6 times and only for stuff that cant be talked about on the board :D

How important can it be if you made 1 post and then need to pm someone already...?
I just think that the protection for abuse is more important then the possibillity and needs to use it immediately ;)

A person with one post might not need to send someone else a PM, but what if they wanted to read a PM that someone else has sent them?
I think that everybody should be allowed to read their own PMs, even if you aren't allowed to actually send any of their own until they reach a post-count of 6. ;)
