View Full Version : Big Klf Meeting

Skweeky
01-12-2004, 07:53 PM
We all know each other for a while now, and the Scottish part of the board is meeting up in Glasgow for a pub crawl.

It seems that certain members are interested in having a real KLF meeting so, let's do it then!

This topic would be for discussing all that.

We need:

-a date (most likely in the summer)
-a location
-to know who is coming
-to see what accomodation we can get
-etc...

So, go ahead and post all your ideas and views on this :D :holiday: :jester: :pimp:

in my backyard

although I don't think it's big enough for 70,845 members

It could be quite a good idea though

(btw, this is going to be a sticky, just waiting for someone to do it)

Not very doable, is it?

Still it could possibly be cool.

I'd be up for a big meeting in the UK...anything else would be too cost prohibitive :(

Has anyone thought of holding simultaneous parties? We could have one in the UK, one in the US and one in Aus, just an idea they could all be held on the same weekend or something.

This is not a bad idea really.I was just thinking why not have one for the Americans and Canadians. We could finally decide who has better Bacon.

Yeah, I can't imagine too many Brits would be able to fly over to the US and vice versa...but it would be great knowing everyone is partying at (roughly) the same time

edit:not forgetting the aussies and anyone else of course

well if this is gonna happen, why not have 5-6 simultaneous at places with amazing internet connections, and have loads of webcams set up as well, so that each party can see each party

or is this too big?

One idea, especially for the younger ones would be to arrange to go to a musical gig somewhere. Then make arrangements to meet at the gig. :)

Yup, a few parties at the same time would be the best I think, otherwise it'd be too expensive for most people to fly over.

I'm all for coming to the one in Glasgow - Though our resident Glaswegans would have to sort it out and tell us where the f*** it'll be

Truth be told, the only problem I can think of is overnight accomodation :( If anyone was willing, I could crash at someone's house to sleep the crawl off then get out before sun comes up :) Other alternatives is to just get the train home after the crawl (probably end in the morning anyway ;))

Most obvious thing would be to sleep on the street, but I don't even sleep in Liverpool's streets so WTF makes you think I'd to stupid enough to in Glasgow?

Skweeky
01-12-2004, 10:36 PM
Yeah ok, but that's the pub crawl.

I was more thinking of something bigger.

We can't organise 4-5 parties at the same time, make sure we have a computer and connection, and accomodation in a months time.

We need to wait for the Americans and the Aussies to reply though before we can do anything.

Any ideas for the UK location then?

A few people can stay over at my place then, but we'll be driving, so we can only take 3 back with us

Sure - I'm semi-aggressive, sadistic, manipulative and controlling. But at least none of them are mentioned :P ;) :D

BTW - I've been thinking. I'm planning to go, but I can't manage the radio in Liverpool when I'm there in Glasgow. So why don't I move the radio that night to Glasgow? :w00t: If anyone in Glasgow can help me with sorting that idea out, let me know :)

It seems that certain members are interested in having a real KLF meeting so, let's do it then!

This topic would be for discussing all that.

We need:

-a date (most likely in the summer)
-a location
-to know who is coming
-to see what accomodation we can get
-etc...

So, go ahead and post all your ideas and views on this :D :holiday: :jester: :pimp:
I wish we could make K-Lite User meetings ;)

I am always opened, if you are in Nuremberg just come to me for a small coffee ;)
You are welcome ;)

As I am living still at my parent it is a little difficult probably, but we can have nice walks and I can show you some nice places here although Nuremberg is not London.

As I also do not have much money for the moment I can't afford a trip to Glasgow, but if someone would help me out, I would come if the meeting would be at a time
I am not busy ;)

If you are traveling to Nuremberg, I can PM you my current adress. I do not wanna put the adress here in public, cause it is also the adress of my parents.

Steakhaus Rosenau - very well made Steaks! (From Argentinia!)
Doener Filiz (a good shop, selling this turkish speciality, really good!)
KFC (Kentucky Fried...)
Pizza Americana (One of the best Pizza, no the best one - it is located near the
former building where american soldiers lived during the cold war for ages!)

A AHAHAHAHA!!!!!

No but serious, in all likely hood no one will want to travel more than 50 miles to go to one of these, so first we need to get a nice directory of where everyone lives, and then take a long hard look at a map.

If you guys are going to make the effort to go to New York, you might as well spend the extra couple hours to get to Montreal, or better yet, Toronto. Well Im not sure how my government would feel about the Marlies, but im payin like 8+ bux a pack, so I say bring em on over! We used to have awesome cigarette bootleggers when the cigarette companies were behind it... Now it sux, I WANT MY CANCER WHOLESALE!

Actually with all that SARS crap the hotel business had been slashing rates to ungodly low prices, I dunno if thats still goin on though. Also keep your fingers crossed for the Canadian dollar to drop more. I know I do, it means more cross border spending.

I don't go Karting so i dont really know the laws too well but im assuming you mean in relation to governance of speed and stuff... There are a bunch of tracks all over Ontario though, and if that's not fast enuff for ya then we have those open wheel racing camps and stuff..... But my game is paintball!

Anyway your money is worth more than ours, so come on over to Ontario and spend it!!! We Love You.... At least until you reach your credit limit.

given the slight decline in the weather front of late, you may want to add mittens, nordic sweaters and thermals to your products, oh and a nice wee bobble hat.

BTW are you just looking for a list of pubs in the town centre that will accomodate a big crowd, some places are a bit funny about letting big groups in you might wanna check with them before hand. :) Skweeky if you want a couple of beers from back home check the Bier Halle in Gordon Street at the Buchanan St end across from TGI Fri, it's expensive but they have a menu of beers from all over the world, might be worth a visit sometime, if not on the pubcrawl as it's not the biggest place.

:)

As for holding it in Woodstock... come on up! FC theres go karts in Kingston and its upstate... which is chill... and WOodstock has alot of hippies and crazies..... so walking around in barefeet will go totally unnoticed. If you guys are going to make the effort to go to New York, you might as well spend the extra couple hours to get to Montreal, or better yet, Toronto. Lower drinking age, tons of clubs, and women from every corner of the world... It doesnt get any better... Well unless we could get rid of winter...
:P Canada?!Are you Crazy?I bet they charge $200 a night for a room.....probably more.And how much does a Beer cost up there.....$5? :P

Though I did check to see how much Canada charge for Big Macs and it looks like it is about the same as down here. That is always nice. :D

I have looked around to see what Go Kart Laws they have up there but could not find none. And how would they fell about me bringing 50 Cartons of Marlboros over the Border? [/b][/quote]
You don't have to choose the most expensive 5 star hotel. No, there are several
other little possibilities where you can have Night Sessions and share your
thoughts with some nice ppl ;)

Mathea, Woodstock, nice. Where do you live? I live in Nuremberg as you may see:
Look on my Signature for some images from my city ;) Or on renderosity.com - the gallery of myself (sharee2) ;)
