You're impossible Cheesey

I think it's perfectly possible, not likely much these days as it's all about how hip you are or how you look, but i still reckon that two people can fall in love when they first meet. Everything's possible in fact (except Withcheese), so why not? B)

My parents didn't fall in love at first sight though, they had flaming rows for ages as they both worked at the same place, but my mum got him in the end :)

Peace

You would hate someone you have never met based on appearance alone? A bit harsh.

That person probably reminds you of someone you dislike through no fault of his own.

Remember Slugworth from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory? His physical appearance was designed to make you dislike him, but was actually one of the good guys.

I think infatuation at first sight is more the reality, love takes time.

One of my favorite sigs from that movie:

"So shines a good deed in a weary world."

Okay, hate a first sight is probably too strong a term. But have you never met someone and had a bad feeling about them right from the start?

I'll use an example from my own life.

A woman my ex had an affair with. At the time I met her, they weren't sleeping together, they just worked together and I hadn't even heard her name before. I had come up to meet my boyfriend for lunch, and it was her first day of work there and we were introduced. Before a word was even spoken I didn't like her. I can't explain why, but I didn't. I can't say that I hated her though, so yes, you're right, that is harsh.

I did try to like her though, I took her out for lunch on several occasions, I even got her a job working with me when she lost that one. And over time my dislike grew to hate. After I found out what happened... well I just won't go there.

Sorry Nikki, I am just having some fun, I didn't mean for this to play out to hurt someone.

We all get that vibe from a phony and I am sorry for your situation.

My point was that love/ hate are aquired commodities, and that infatuation/repulsion are immediate.

I like to keep things light and fun, sorry about that.

I'm not upset, not in the slightest. Just an example. :) It was a long time ago, and that person has been out of my life for many years now. :)

Your arse is of no interest to me, and your knowledge of William "cornhoulio" Shakespeare is quite disturbing.

Translation: I had no idea that Willy Wonka was a plagurizing barsteward. We don't read Shakespeare much in the States, as his style is quite cumbersome to understand.

I don't think Willy Wonka was plagiarizing anything.

Particularly as the work was by Roald Dahl and was actually called "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". It is what we call a book, you must have heard the word used by adults.

However given that you are an American then you almost certainly think that Willy Wonka is a Biopic.

It is amazing, the restorative powers of a nap upon the elderly. We will work on the concept of "concrete" vs "abstract" after a stout cup of tea.

I particularly like the story "royal jelly", although I needed someone to read it to me.

If your love is conditional, then it is worth not one jot.

You do not have to get to know someone to know you love them.

You have to get to know someone to know if they love you.

You use the Royal we, how arrogant and stereotypically American of you.

Oh and for the record, you (plural) do not know how to make a decent cup of tea. I don't blame you, it is a genetic thing.

Love at first sight?

Possible.

I've heard of it.

I'd have loved my wife at first sight had she not been married; propriety precluded me, then. :)

All's well that ends well, though, eh?

Hate at first sight?

Yes.

I was introduced to a fellow once at the start of a pub crawl; I took a friend aside and made a bet with him that this guy and I would be into it shortly.

He looked at the guy and wanted to bet which of us would flatten him first.

By the third tavern the guy started getting mouthy, so my buddy and I flipped a coin-I won. :D

I left him outside, propped against the wall.

He just had that look; guys know what I mean-when it just looks like someone's face needs a slight adjustment?

Just beyond being slappable?

The kind of look that makes one's fingers curl up into a fist?

Makes it difficult to hold your drink?

Guys? ;)

Of course there is! Scientists have proof of it!

There is also "disgust at first sight" too. And that usually leads to no relationship.
