Look at this (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=27&t=9233&st=0#entry54403) topic, itīs a way we can build it. It will be a lot of work for starters but later on it will be just additions. Think if people are interested we have to form a team that can acces the database. It will be made read only for the other members. Opinions and remarks please. B)

btw this is just a rough example, ideas can be brought in to make it better

not A bad id but to make a whole story for one movie... isn't it better to make ONE topic were everybody can place there movies... (i know there is one but people don't seem to care) with a little info and a picture or something...

better is not a topic but something like it, people who can post there hashed (movie) and the topic auto set them in alfabetic order... so ONE list with only movie names (the hashes)

it's ment as an example. There can be one post only with the list of movies, and another one with info on the movies. Ofcourse we can do it the easy way and just link it to the imdb database.
If we leave it open for everyone to post it would be a mess in no time.

no we can create a team that can mod this specific database.

not the normal GM's.

the team could have people like Darth Sushi, Freek1 Share daddy (if he joins back in and why not you (Shini) if you feel up to it.....

And yes a team like this can be formed in every world room. B)

i was more thinking of all people having acces to it.. a white bar were they can putt there movie, game or what ever the database is for, hash in.. and than the databse auto puts it in A B C D order

Yes, I like that idea. I'm up to it as I like to find the newest releases and the hard to find Anime seriees and movies. I would also like to suggest MagicNakor and Shenlong WC if we have an Anime section.

No the topic canīt be edit by everyone, it will be a mess in no time.

We have to make seperate mod teams.

But of course everyone can suggest add ons for the database, they can place the verified in the verified hashes with all the info they wanted to add, and just ask the moviemoderaters to place it in the database...

at Wocus... i gave a small example but thatīs what you get in the end.... the other pages are the extra info.

Look at the sdatabase topic again, this is one disk i have 10 more of those...

No, A mod of the database will add it in there from various sources of the hashes. if you have a hash that is not currently in the database, then post it in the verifieds and a Mod of the database will add it later on.

after we get down the movies datbase we can expand into software, games, music. if u guys want a person in the movies team i could be in it and i fully support the idea of sharedaddy being in the team cuz the list of movies he got is amazing.

features as in Sharereactor.com (they sometimes mention availability of file)
& Fasttrackmovies.com(special codecs) and improve on them! :D
I don't know how flexible boardsoftware is but maybe it could be made so
that you submit a verified as one would start a topic but in a different interface
for examle fields for __Title / # / imdb-link /codec / availability etc.
I agree there has to be a modteam for it and that the only editing to be done
by others is to add a comment.

This is great idea. I liked the way SD posted with the pic, sig and the link to IMDB. A one stop shop sort of idea. It makes sense and would be much welcomed.

I also agree that it should be a team to mod it. Can I suggest experienced level headed chaps who have proven themselves. Particularly those who have been prolific movie posters. I have to say Shini and SD spring to mind instantly. Both good eggs who know the form

If you are thinking Music then FC must be front of the queue. Thought the level headed may be a problem, but hey why not have a rocker in charge of music, instead of it always being mods.

Software would have to include Colt Seevers, if for no other reason than finding a couple of obscure things for me. Having said that CS could probably have a claim on a few areas, no shrinker on the movies himself as I recall.

You know problem can be that we must use the functionality from this board. Without givin' VB a hell of a job. So what i did was just using standard functionality of the board. Search options and so are a bit limmited.

Ideas are allright,
-availability will be though, it changes real fast you know
-mention codecs is a great idea

as you probably saw i linked the search file to one specific post, every post has a unique number. So if someone not in the team made a good post the movie team can link that specific post.

But i just gave an idea, why don't you try to give an example of the way you should do it.
Using the standard options of the board. B)

btw think we 1st have to try it with the movies if that will work we could look at the other rooms.

So by using the standard options, do you mean a pinned topic open to only the Mods but can be viewed by everyone? Such as a list of movies with Title, imdb info, codec, and a link to the verifed post.

How about just setting the rules how we post the verified movies.
Some of us have been doing this already.

1. The topic title should include:
- The Movie Title
- The Year
2. The topic subtitle should include the following information:
- quality (DVDrip, DVDscreener, Telesync, ...)
- video codec (DivX, XviD, ...)
- number of discs
3. The post should include:
- DVD cover (or Movie Showtimes) from Amazon.com (picture)
- IMDb link
- Hybrid Sig2Dat
- any extra info (bitrate, audio codec, resolution, ...)

And those who get the movie from eMule/eDonkey could include the ed2k quicklinks at the bottom.

If you look at the verified posts from Darth Sushi and me, you will see that we are doing (most of the times) just that.
(I apologize if I have forgotten someone)
I have learned to do that from Darth Sushi in the first place. He is my master. ;)


@jetje: will such post help in creating the database? Or do we need to specifiy the format of the post even more.

I would like to help too. I have only been on the board for 3 months now, but have posted some new releases. This is what I'm usually after, fresh DVD quality releases from eMule and then I bring them here. If you need my help, give me a buzz.

Yes that would help, the mod team just have to check if the topic is conform the set standard, and add it.

@Shini Something like that, but i must ask VB 1st on how a mod team can acces the topic.

And good mod material as well. It's every coaches dream, a team that picks itself. Can someone contact DS and SD to find out if they would be interested. I haven't seen either about for a while.

I agree with tilen76 way of posting the verifieds.
It should also include the movies' resolution and links to the covers in cdcovers.cc.

If we could build a movies database like that we would be number 1 on the net. B)

I prefer the first. Especially if you don't recognise the movie, a wee bit of background to get interested.

I think the bitrate etc stuff is a bit ott, but I wouldn't object to it too much. Just a bit of clutter really.

All in all it looks really good. I remember now. you were Darth Sushi's Padawan. I recognised the influences. Don't be tempted by the dark side. The spam is in all of us, you must control it.

OK, I leave the techno stuff to the people who are good at it. I mean, I'm not very familiar with the Invision Board software.

But if we are talking how to organize the one pinned topic with all the verifieds and links to the original posts, then let me think about that over night. I may come up with an idea. I just hope I know all the features of the board software, being just a regular member and all.

I also agree about the titles that start with the "The".

I have another suggestion:
sometimes the filenames are a little strange, like gony-ninja.avi. This one is hard to recognize as Gangs of New York.
I say that we edit the Sig2Dat quicklinks in the database:

This way it would be much easier to see the movie titles in the list.

But as I said, let me think about the organization over the night and I might come up with an idea how to organize the thread. But yours jetje is a good start. I just think we can do better.

Perhaps we should wait for other movie contributors, like SD and DS to come to the board and give us some ideas, because we have to put the rules down before we begin building the database. Changing it later might be even more work.

Lets wait a day or two until we figure out exactly how are we going to do this. I mean there is no need to rush, if we have been without a database for so long, I think we can wait few more days.

But lately I have done the tour of other verified sites and most of them suck. We would need to insure we only do this if we can make it better than the others.

I suggest a team to figure it out prior to anything happening for real. I mean let&#39;s try some experiments first, work on the whole thing until we open it up for everyone.

Too much info is not always good and too little is worse. I suggest we work on this first then trial and error it until we are all satisfied.

First thing, I want this to be sorted and separated. DVD Screeners are not DVD rips and I would want that sorted out if possible. Maybe we have 3 sections; DVD Rips, DVD Screeners and Video Cpatures or Screencams. Something like that. I never post screeners, only true DVD rips and would want all to be able to first underastand the difference and then be able to view each kind separately.

All this can come to pass, so I agree with the idea of a verified site, just better than the rest. I think if we steal all of the best aspects of each of the existing sites we could have a hum-dinger of a site going in no time.

I look forward to hearing everyone&#39;s comments, and YES I am back.

Why don&#39;t we just make a webpage with all the sigs on it? When a verified has been tested and it works then we can add to the page. The only way you can get to the page though is if you are a member of the forum.

think the big advantage to have it in here is the inter action that the forum can ad to the database.
Like questions about the movies, codecs etc. A website never can have that. B)

Why the big anti dvd screener issue sharedaddy?

For instance... Two towers isnt going to be out till may on dvd, nov for the extended version.

Yet there is a dvd screener out of TT already, which im sure tons of people would love to see before its possible to rip the dvd.

I have no issue with them. I plan on buying Two Towers:extended edition once it comes out, but for now, the screener is perfect for me.

It is nice for an up to dat database if we have the new releases people are lookin&#39; for in it. Almost everyone is lookin&#39; for quality screeners.

I have just thought of an idea.Is there anyway of when these movies have been entered into the database making it that when they start actually downloading in the &#39;artist&#39; tab it shows something like &#39;verified at www.klite.tk&#39;.
This is done with some movies at www.fasttrackmovies.com,if you search for artist under that name you get quite a few.This would be a good way of advertising the site and spreading our films.I know that anyone could just change the artist name but chances are most wont.So what do you think?

Sure we could start with an alphanumerical Indexpage as Jetje suggests
but to keep things managable should each nr. or letter than have its own page?
(would eliminate hellof alot of scrolling)
With the Imdb-&-Amazon-links I think its not necessary to add casts or biographies(yet)
Extras can also be added in the general area and added to by everyone.
Overall we must keep in mind that the ultimate format is to get a database
and not a long list of collections <<those could just be archived?
About the qualityissue I have no idea to approach that ,seems hard to judge
objectively.(does the original ripper do that ,is it a well circulated movie seen and
judged by many? :teehee:

yes good idea letter per topic/page..
as you post an individual movie the data base links can direct to that specific post.
So people can replie on the post of the verified telling about quality or ....
without interfering the database but if people want they can check the topic with the verified for aditional info and questions about that movie. Check the test database to find out... B)

tagline ,summary may be a bit too much (scrolling again)

I am not anti-screener, just PRO-DVD Rip. People tend to treat them as equals and they are most assuredly not. I have a lot of screeners and rips, however I only post rips, the screeners are normally already posted. I just think they need to be treated separately, 2 sections, RIPS and screeners. If I am trying to find a perfect copy of something I will wait for a DVD rip and I hate downloading a screener that was named DVD-RIP, I mean they are close but to different animals. The main goal of mine would be to inform visitors of the differences and insure they know what they are getting before trying for it. Even if we do not have 2 sections, then we should have TAGS, DVD and Screener tags that would be required on each post. I mean a "for sure" way of insuring anyone looking at it understands what they are looking at.

yep, the database team gets acces to the (closed) topic, and can use it. Thought had to register the name before someone else did. Think it&#39;s a nice name for the topic that host this boards database... B) If someone has a nice avatar for it :rolleyes:

FC if this works in here you can start a team in the musicworld to. But i think it will be much more difficult to create it there, much more small files. Different categories.... have no clue yet how to do it right in there... ;)

:) I was just thinking the same thing after I posted,music would be harder.Will have to think about how to do it.....get in touch with infested cats and what not. :)

I like the idea posted above, the codec information could be acquired with GSpot. This could spare us from answering all those question about "Why can&#39;t I watch this movie ..." over and over again.

The actual database (list) should be kept as clean as possible, with as little (but still enough) information, where other additonal info would be kept in the Verified post.

I still have this question:
Is the idea to make the database with only the list of movie titles and links to actual verified post or are we going to build the database with all the information.

Beacuse I would prefer the second one:
The first post of a particular letter would contain the list of movie titles (with movie year, quality(rip, screener), no. of discs and probably video codec) which would be links to the single replies posted below. Those single replies would contain all the information about the particular movie then and credit to the poster of the movie of course (movie originally posted by "member&#39;s name" and link to his/her thread). The discussion about the movie (problems, ...) would then be held in the original thread.

If we are going to do it this way, I suggest we set the rules in the Movies/Verified Hashes on how to post a movie, just to save us from all the additional work later (seraching for additional info). I already suggested on how in one of my posts above.

I know there are lots of movies already posted and for those the team would have to search for all that info once the database is going to be build. This will probably going to be the hardest work.
But if each member of the team handles movies beginning with few letters, I think we could acomplish that pretty quick.
The biggest problem would probably be finding codec information, since you actually need to have the movie on your hard drive (or CDr) to do that. But we could ask people who have those movies to do that for us. I only have around 95 movies stored on my HD and CDs, but I know few members of the board who have well over 300 movies.

I imidiately have to admit that this is not my area of expertise. :(

In example pages you see how fields can be set up;
I think that could come handy for posting (required fields / extra info / viewercomments)

Maybe that&#39;s something for the future 1st i like to organize the data. But just in case someone says i can make a real database using php software, don&#39;t hasitate to do so. B)

I have a question regarding the board features.
It would we fantastic if we could have a strip of links for each letter under all Movieworld categories on top, saying something like:


"K-Lite movie database"
#* A* B* C* D* E* F* G* H* I* J* K* L* M* N* O* P* Q* R* S* T* U* V* W* X* Y* Z
Where each leter would be a link to its own thread posted somewhere in the Verifieds in a Can.
The threads would be locked of course, only accesible to the Database crew.

Is that possible? Can you discuss that with Paul jetje?
Because I don&#39;t think that 27 (for each letter) pinned topics would look nice.

Now regarding the database itself. I have posted a test thread under Verified hashes, to give you an example of my idea. It&#39;s posted here:

1. The first topic in each thread (for each letter) would be a list of movies:
- Movie title would be a Sig2Dat quicklink. If the movie has two discs, the Sig2Dats can be merged as one link, without affecting the actual HASH. I will post a guide on how to do that too later. We would have to rename the bits between <a href=...> and </a> into "Movie title (year)". This way the list wont be confusing and movies would be easy to spot.
- next to a link would be few extra bits of info: quality (DVDrip, DVDscreener, ...), no. of discs and perhaps video codec
- in front of the movie title (link) would be a picture http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=2L9GroJqhYdDLyn2dT6oXnq5b&ext=.gif being a link to the reply about the movie containing all additional info. I believe urls to single replys are possible?

2. Each movie would then have its own reply with all the extra info:
- Amazon picture
- Plot outline (copied from IMDb or written by original poster of the movie)
- perhaps IMDb movie rating (evethough I personally don&#39;t think they are reliable)
- IMDb link
- Hybrid Sig2Dat
- codec, aspect ratio and bitrate info (exported from GSpot in a standardized form)
- link to orginal post in the Verified hashes with credit to original poster
- ed2k quicklinks if avaliable
- and maybe a picture from VCDquality.com (if they don&#39;t mind)

You can only post 10 pictures on 1 reply and when there will be more than 10 movies beginning with the same letter this could be a problem. If we can set the number of pictures to "unlimited" for the database or we will have to put down just a text link to the movie details. Jetje, can you discuss that with Paul too?

This is my idea of how this database should look like.
Now I want to hear critics, suggestions, corrections and your ideas.

phpmyadmin is a really nice web-ui for db maintenance and so on, I use it for maintenance of all databases at my old school (as well as for my home-linux). But it&#39;s not really anything to use for designing and setting up databases. If you want to do that I suggest you take a look at DeZign for databses. With it you can design the database on the fly and generate the text-statements and import them into your. f.ex mysql database, to create the database structure. I haven&#39;t checked on the newer version but I don&#39;t think it has gotten worse =) You can download a trial from here http://www.datanamic.com/download/download_dezign.html to check it out.

What i was thinkin is 2 seperate posts, One with the list and one with the info in it. Think it&#39;s easier to handle that way.

The other thing is if we use this we have to put in every contribution ourselfs. If we put up a standard. Other people can choose of posting in that standard and sent us a pm, to point out there post, we check if it&#39;s acoording our "standards" and just ad the link of the post....

- One (pinned) topic for each letter. The first post should explain how posts should be added to the topic. Also a warning about not repying to the topic.

- Forum members can add verifieds to the topics.

- Useless post will get deleted by the mods.
