View Full Version : Windows 98 Troube

We have this emachine computer, it has 64mb mem and running on a pentium II is has window 98 and it use to have a 40gig harddrive but i put a 120 gig harddrive in it and now it wont restart or shutdown windows correctly without getting hung. Can anyone help me with this problem? and if also you can offer suggestions on possible upgrading it? all help will be appreciated

This sound like a Hardware Problem. Have you tried there.

Your machine does not have support for a "sinngle" drive that big. Especially an older late 90's model emachine. They generally only support 3 to 4 times what they came out the factory with. If you added another 40 gig drive next to the 40 you had before I bet it would work then. B)

What about it?

I doubt youll be able to get that pc to support a 120 gig drive on one single ide cable. No matter how you go about it. ;)

But like said, it will probably take another drive for sure as long as its no bigger than 40 or 60 gigs. You can be brave and try an 80 :huh:
