DVD X Copy, and anything from 321 Studios SUCKS!!!!
http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=98290

Here is by far the nicest smoothest DVD copying software, DVD Shrink:
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/

It's sweet!
And it's totally free.
And it doesn't add a sillyass BACKUP notice whenever you play a copy.

You have a DVD-ROM and CD burner, and want to copy a DVD film to a svcd.

you know how to get it to svcd mpeg-2 format, and want to split it up to burn it to CDs.

K, if this is correct, then there are a couple of ways: either use your authoring software and reduce the quality until it fits onto 1 cd
use TMPEGenc and goto "File>MPeg Tools" and split the mpeg file
get this free program http://www.musclesoft.de/combatman/start.p...l.html〈=e (http://www.musclesoft.de/combatman/start.php?page=software/dvtool.html〈=e)

edit to add: then once you have a few mpeg-2 svcd files, use Nero to burn as svcd, as you would usually do.

can u tell me in detail how to do it with tmpcgenc?

find out the size of the file by right clicking on it, and doing properties.

you can fit 800 MB on a disk, so if it's 1400MB, you can use 2 disks etc. (2*800=1600)
work out how many you need,

open the file in your favourite player and note the total playing time.
divide this time by the number of disks you are going to use. (say a 120 min film onto 2 disks = 60 min per disk)

open tmpegenc, and close the wizard, if it appears (press cancel)

Click File

Click Mpeg tools

click merge and cut

click add and then navigate to the mpeg file you created
xxxxxxxx
click Browse (output) and find a good dir, and then type eg "gangs of new york 1"

click the filename and click edit

type in the second box the time of the end of the first section (eg 60 mins)

click run.

repeat the steps below xxxxxxx for file "gangs of new york 2" etc, and by changing the times to 60 mins ~ 120 mins etc for each file you want to create

then youll have a few files, all nicely named

k, then you might be able to ignore what i just said! :)

depends on the software u use..personally, id go to kvcd.net and get acp which will do all the donkey work, audio extracting etc and converting, and will split the movie for you.

or if u use tmpeg you can set the source range under Advanced options such that the filesize is right

or there will prob be a way - what software u use for converintg?

my dvd player cant play kvcd.

i use tmpeg to cenvert..im converting as we speak

vivitron 15
02-07-2004, 12:05 PM
ah, k...you could still change the source range such that it would fit (advanced) but i guess the way i posted is just as easy anyhow, hope it works for ya - give us a shout if it don't :smilie4:

somethings worng once i click edit and try to change the time the cpu usage goes to 100% and then i have to end process - tmpcgenc. the same thing happened to me with easy video splitter - i picked the settings and clicked split then cpu would go to 100%! whats wrong?

vivitron 15
02-07-2004, 06:11 PM
hmm, not sure - check the movie is ok in VideoLan or whatever u use - play it a little, fast forward a little and play, check its all there etc and no probs.

then, id try thayt program i put the link to DVTool, which is pretty lightweight (and free) and see what happens.

if all else fails, try switching off pc and then back on again, and dont run any progs when you try to split it

3223

i just got dvtolls but its complicated! do u mind runing me through on how to split the file?

any help?

vivitron 15

open the prog

go to file processor

click "split file" at the top

next to input file, click the folder pic and select the file you want

on the right hand side, there is a box with the length of each file in it - change this to "734003200" (=700MB)

change the bit at the bottom to the required output file location and name (the "?" is where it inserts a number - i.e. which disk it is

then click start

when i try to type in "734003200" i can type in everthing but the last 2 zeros then the enitre number changes. i dont think they let u type in the last to digits, too many i think. whats wrong?

DVD2SVCD (http://www.dvd2svcd.org/), TMPGEnc, the guide here (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm). just get something to burn it with like nero or whatever and thats all you need. you can also choose how many discs you wish for it to be on with DVD2SVCD.....so if you only want it on 2, it will only end up being 2 discs.
