Because of my other topic going WAAAAAAAY off topic I want to start a new one.

My question:

Sapphire Radeon 9600pro: $220cnd
PowerColor Radeon 9600pro: $220cnd
Asus Radeon 9600xt: $265cnd

Now comparing the pro and xt's specs is it worth the money to buy an xt over pro?

PS: I cannot internet shop. Prices as is.

Now if the pro is better should I get the Sapphire or Powercolor?

powercolour seems to cost more ove here (NZ) , so im guessing that they have a better reputation or higher quality cards.

go for the powercolour 9600pro and oc to an XT :)

YAY!! another 50 page thread on vid cards <_<

EDIT: id save up and get a 9800pro :D

EDIT 2: there

It won't be 50 pages as long as people don't start arguing about something unrelated

the 9600XT looks like a good deal, I would go with that.

If I were you I would buy a Sappire Radeon 9600 Pro, like file pirater said, overclock it to the speeds of the XT. Otherwise, if you have the money to blow, get the XT (but see if you can find one that is not ASUS, I heard they are not the most stable)

Hmm I'm not gonna overclock anything just yet. But are the stocks speeds of the pro almost the same to the xt?

Keikan, to maximize our helpfulness to you, could you provide us with links to the stores in your vicinity?

Keikan
02-05-2004, 05:16 AM
Umm. the sites store is super confusing for example when you see a 9600xt for sale and it's $220 then it's a pro... but good luck :)

Now you have to tell us what the maximum you can spend is, including tax.
By the way, Keikan, what is your current mobo, CPU, memory, and power supply unit setup?

Edit: and here is a funny little comic I found: Who does this remind you of?

$1500 on that site

But that store only has Asus 9600xt no others.

I just might get the pro seeing there not that much difference but then it becomes sapphire vs powercolor

MY setup? will be

AMD Athlon XP Barton 2x00+
Gigabyte ga-7n400-L1
1024mb pc3200 ram
350watt powersuply

reminds me of intel...

Looks good any of the above cards will perform similarly... You may get slight nechmark differences but the gam,es will play the same... Go for it

BTW nice rig... good starting platfrom... try to get a barton core... easier yo cool better etc...

Yes/well to tell you the truth do whatever is best for your budget. What is its price?

As far as I know the price of the 2500+ is $90 USD, a great deal. I would get that. If you are not satisfied with the performance, you can comfortable and easily overclock it to the 2800+.

Keikan
02-07-2004, 07:29 AM
Everything fits into my $1500 budget or close. I can afford the sapphire or the powercolor and I can afford the 2500 or the 2800 :o but i pick 2800 because I'm not gonna be overclocking for a while. Now it's powercolor or sapphire 9600pro which shall I choose

Sorry, my friend, but that is just foolish, (no offense, I am just trying to make a point) you should not spend any extra money beyond the 2500+, the only difference between the 2500+ and the 2800+ is less that 200 MHz. Anyone can overclock 200MHz safely. Regardless, going from your current processor to the 2500+ or the 2800+ you would not know the difference. Save your money and get better graphics!

I found a Sappire Radeon 9800 SE for $234, which is a great deal, the best at your store

EDIT 2: there
So you think hes just not allowed to post any more video card topics. Anyway, you made about 3 video card topics (all about the same things, may I add).

Being on topic. Somebody said above, save for a 9800PRO. If you can find one, they'll probably drop to the same price as the 9600XT soon.

If you have the money, go for 9600XT.
If not, get a PRO, and o/c if you really want to.

EDIT: I still use floppy drives, for when the network screws up and I need to get work from one PC to the other.

Ignore the troll, dude.

Actually it is important to have floppies, especially for BIOS flashes, etc.
Who cares they only cost $5 or so...and come in handy.

You will be very happy with your new computer; congrats! :)
