Awesome card. The 9700Pro is an awesome card and with the added all in wonder features that sounds like an awesome deal.

I live in Canada as well, and 199 for that card is a tight price!! that's really good! it's also a fairly high end card and gives really good performance, I'd go for it

Peat moss! That looks like "World" in your avatar

The difference? As far as I know, the All-in-wonder includes VIVO (Video in-video out) as well as DVI. Not sure about the newer models though

at the moment if my dad was going to buy me a new card or something he wouldnt want it to be too expensive but i want i to be good so i would definately find a radeon 9700 pro beucase ive heard such good things about it, its got 8 pipelines so its incrediably fast and almost as good as a 9800 and its pretyt cheap so its a great card.

In the united states you can currently buy a 9800 Pro OEM for $220 ($235 for retail), a 9700 Pro for appx. $200 USD retail. So if I were in the market for a new card, I would go for a 9800 Pro, as its only $18 more than the 9700 Pro, and I believe will be able to play future games at decent framerates. The 9700 Pro is excellent too, and if you can get your hand on one that has AIW capabilities, that is all that better.

i like need for speed, if you put the graphics options to full the game looks spectacular, it may seem like the graphics are really simple but its the small things that makes them amaxing like reflections on card and the road and the shine of the rain on teh road and when it splaheses up from the road it looks really kool i love that game its so fun!

You wanna know what really SUX!!!!!

the prices over here!!! they are completely outrageously high.

take this for example

ATI Original Radeon 9700 PRO 128Mb DDR 256bits w TV/DVI

Price inc GST NZ$633.99

..yip i sed NZ$633.99. ... and that the 2nd cheapest on aPRICESpY (http://www.pricespy.co.nz) site. (a site where they update and compare all the prices of hardware at all the online retail stores in NZ)

 yip and according to this (http://www.currency.co.nz/agent/message.mv) currency converter.... it works out to be $US 375.42

in other words i wish that we cud get cheap hardware in NZ :( :01: oh well

You could consider getting a 9700 non pro and overclocking it. Mine was a oem card but I've got it running faster than a 9700 pro. All I got was an artic cooler that cost me £10 ($20???) and I now have a card that can cope with nearly anything.

Just get the card, load some omega ati drivers and then get ati tool which basically does all the overlocking for you and tests for stability. I have my standard 9700 running at close to 350mhz core, and 320 memory (640). For a perspective most 9700 pros run at 325core and 310 memory. My spec is below but I have to say that overclocking your graphics card has by far the biggest effect in benchmark scores. I was getting about 4200 in 3dmark 03, and 13,000 in 01. After clocking it to the above speeds, I'm now getting over 5000 in 3dmark 03, and over 15,000 in 01.

this is all at default voltages so there isn't really any heat issues. Only problem you might have is finding a 9700. Could try ebay (thats where I got mine from but that was 9 months ago)
