Sport of champions?
Sport?
Controlled violence?
Organised thuggery?

In my opinion, organised thuggery. Not a sport

Well if you follow boxing at all.....Then you would have to say
all of the above. :)

Boxing is almost too elemental to be called a sport.

If you attend boxing you will see violence, thuggery, bravery, daring, sadism, masochism, stupidity, intelligence, artistry, sportsmanship, and several other things. ;)

I used to love it, but less so these days. :(

The purest form of sport there is. True physical competition.

Yes Skillian, but then so is arm-wrestling.

I think bouts where what we are able to observe that which we admire in boxing have become so rare as to almost preclude diligent fan-dom.

That is sad, for exactly the reason you state. :(

the prob with boxing these days is too many fighters are just in it for the money
(as with a lot of sports figures here in the states, in all sports)

but theres still some fighters with some heart & courage
theyre the ones who make it worth watching
you just have to admire some of these guys' determination
coincidentally theyre the guys who are fighting for hardly any money,

anyone who watched the three fights between Ward and Gatti saw
two guys who just dont know the word "quit"

that is a rarity in sports these days sadly....

More like a sport controlled by thuggery. :(

Yes, most doubt the integrity of the sport.

Which is why Pete Rose is being handled so roughly. Undermining the integrity of a sport can kill it.

Strange thing was it was me that did it.

I've been trying to replicate the incident for years but me is buggered as to how I hactually managed it.

Shame that - quite enjoyed the sensation
