I've put my old HD into my new pc but when I try to boot I get to the start of the XP boot screen and I get a error saying something along the lines of HD virus...

Does this mean I've got to re-format? :(

Meh the bitch of a error has come back

"STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF741B84C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

I took the HD from a working 1700+ and moved it to a brand new 2500+

Anyone know how I can get past this error?
I used repair last time it works for the first boot then goes again on the second

Yes you can but it depends on the version of Windows installed.

Re-installed Windows XP all fine now!

Question for anyone with a 2500+ at stock speeds:

Does 43*c @ Idle seem a little high?
My old one (1700+) was about 33*c idle.

uhh its fine if you dont want to overclock but if you do i suggest you clean up wires in teh case and buy some more fans (if you dont already have a lot) and if you dont get any improvements buy some arctic silver 5 thermal paste.

Here are my idle temps, and that is with my 2500 OC'ed to a 3200, so yes yours are high
My wiring in my case is very clean though and I have 8 fans, including 2 on my CPU heatsink :01:

EDIT, and that is low for mine, usually i have about 20 case and 25 cpu, but still ;)

Maybe I'll buy some more fans then I've only got Three (4 including PSU).
I also need to sort the wires out too yeah.

I can get the pc upto 3200+ and it'll be stable, But would I notice any dramatic diffrence during gameplay if I did?

I was thiking that, with air cooling it can't technically go below room temperature, but that's what it read about 5 mins after booting up my comp, but then it usually goes up to about 20 case and 25 CPU as I said before

I dont think those temps are right at alllllll

tesco

try using a different program to monitor temps, like motherboard monitor or speedfan, netter yet go into bios and check there.

and hwo DO you have 2 fans on your cpu? did you stick one on teh side or something?

Yup, and those temps are right, they are just like that for about 5mins when I start up, then they go up, I've already said this twice lol
and yes, I have 2 fans on my heatsink, one mounted on top, and on mounted on the side sucking heat out.
