350W is probably the very very very minimum you should get these days. 450+ is good I'd say.

hmm, can you take out the motherboard or would that be too much trouble? if you do take it off see if you can remove the back cover of the computer case, the part around the I\O ports on the back and its got teh different colors and pictures and stuff...then take a picture of it once it is off so we can see if its standard size to fit in a bought case.

They are both full ATX cases so they should fit your current mobo whatever the size is, however if you know what motherboard's currently inside your system you could check it up just to be 100% sure.

why in the world would you wanna have 2 CD-Roms and a DVD-RW in one computer? that's unnecessary. just ditch one of the CD-Roms, or set it aside as a spare. problem solved. if 250 watts are powering your current setup okay, i kinda doubt that adding a couple of lights will push it over the limit.

unless you're just really eager to buy a new case, i don't think you absolutely need a more powerful PSU or a new case. not at all...

ill get the DVD-rw some time this week and then ill see what happends.
the reason y i wanted to keep my other drives in as well is so i dont have to change cds over all the time, and the DVD-rw i will probley get will burn at 4x or 8x which is a bit slow to burn a music CD.
ill just see how it goes :)

if you get a PSU with a higer wattage does it come with more leads or just more pwer to the leads it already has?

usually (if not always) dvd burners have a seperate speed for burning CD-rs than for burning dvd discs. Im guessing at least 32x.

there is an NEC Drive that burns at 8x DVD+/-R 4x+/-RW and 32x CD-R and 16x CD-RW and reads at 12x DVD and 40x CD for about £73 from ebuyer

If it is IDE you will need a PCI IDE card if you want to keep both cd drives as the onboard can have a max of 4 drives (excluding the floppy)

and AIDA32 told me how much my CPU is using well around what its using.

u may want to upgrade to at least a 350 anyway. but maybe a 450 just to be safe for future upgrades. 350 for safe side as of now for u though. my thoughts...

Hey, any advice on which is the better PSU for my system? (specs in sig)
Diablo 450W Dual LED ATX (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=541439&Tab=0&NoMapp=0)
or
Ultra 400W LED ATX (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=599593&sku=U10-9400%20TL2)
The Diablo has more airflow (an 80mm and a 120mm as apposed to the single 120mm of the Ultra)
The Diablo has more power
The Diablo has more LED
However the Ultra has more Peripheral power connectors, which I like
Ultra:
8 Peripheral
1 Aux
1 12Volt
2 Floppy
1 Main Power

Diablo:
1 Main Power
1 AUX Power
1 12V (P4)
6 Peripheral
2 Floppy
2 Serial ATA

Same except Diablo has 2 less peripheral, but 2 Sata??
Which is better for my system in your opinion, I'm stuck between the two

by the look of ur spec u got a lot of fans. u got 8 i only got 3 fans.

does ur pc need that many cos that would take up some of ur power. :smilie4:

kaiweiler
03-16-2004, 03:34 PM
I don't need this many fans, but I want them! lol
I want to keep my case and components cool, it will give them a longer lifespam and it will run healthier.
and my system is not going to use the full amount of power my psu has anyway
just out of those two psu's which one is better? that's all I want to know lol B)
my current psu has a short in one of the cables, and not enough peripheral power connectors, thats why i need a new one, it's not that i need more power, or am trying to cut down on my power usage, so plenty of fans is fine for me lol

03-16-2004, 04:13 PM
With those laser-cut fan grills the Diablo probably has less airflow than the Ultra which, coupled with the higher power output (and consequently potentially higher heat production), is almost certainly the reason why it has 2 fans.

And if you don't need the extra power it really comes down to whether you need 8 molex connectors or whether 6 will do, especially if you plan to move up to SATA drives.

You can always add a few diodes yourself, maybe even flashing ones.

kaiweiler
03-16-2004, 04:17 PM
Well, I want a seperate molex for fans, led's, etc
then I need one for cd-rw, one for dvd, two for HD's, mabey another HD in the near future, and one of my HD's is already SATA
So that uses up 6, with no room for upgrades

what fans u got and how do u plug them in i might get a nother one after i got my lights on friday

kaiweiler
03-16-2004, 05:22 PM
I got an 80mm on the back as intake
80mm on side intake
80mm on top blowing out
and then smaller fans throughout the inside of my case cooling specific components.
and I have a small 45mm mounted to the side of my heatsink blowing through as well, so I have 2 fans on my heatsink, one on top, one on side
I have a fan on my gfx, mobo fan, psu, etc
getting another 80mm led fan to put on the back underneath the intake (probably to blow out)
:)

 where about do u plug ur fans if u got so many?

kaiweiler
03-16-2004, 06:49 PM
only 3 of them are 3pin connectors that plug into the mobo
the rest are all 4 pin, that plug into a regular molex connector, and have both male and female ends so you can connect a whole line of them one into the other into one molex connector
