Problems With Movies

It seems that every movie I download, when I watch it, halfway through the image comes before the sound...not nice after waiting 2 weeks(or more) for it to finish downloading.
In these during the download i've seen a bit through the avi preview to see how the image is, could that be it?
Please help, it's rather annoying..

What player are you using. Suggest try Videolan, or if that doesn't work download the Codec Pack.

I had this problem when I was using Windows Media Player to view the movies, if you use Video Lan it should work great, also do what Cyril said and update your codecs.
