Eye Toy Webcam instructions for XP

Ive had to bring together lots of different, as none them actually wokred unless you did other stuff, so here are my instructions:

Go to: (I have only tried XP, so am unsure if the others work the same

For Windows XP : Click here (ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Usb/dsbc310_revB/Drivers/dsbc310_winxp2k98se_driver_110.zip)
For Windows Me : Click here (ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Usb/dsbc310_revB/Drivers/dsbc310_winme_driver_110.zip)
For Windows 2000 : Click here (ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Usb/dsbc310_revB/Drivers/dsbc310_winxp2k98se_driver_110.zip)
For Winsows 98 : Click here (ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Usb/dsbc310_revB/Drivers/dsbc310_winxp2k98se_driver_110.zip)

Download the files, and extract them to a place on your computer, it doesnt matter where, as long as you know how to get there

Open the folder in windows explorer, so you can see all the files

Open "OV519" in notepad

Click edit then Replace, on the top bar of notepad

In replace put "VID_05A9&PID_8519" without quotes and "VID_054C&PID_0155" wihtout quotes. Then click on replace all.

Then save it, and close.

Repeat for the files "OV519HUB" AND "OV519AUD"

Make sure all the files are saved and closed then attach you eye toy to a usb port.

A box will pop up after a while, to avoid any confusin just close that.

Go to control panel

Go to "Add Hardware"

Click next on the first screen, then a search will be performed.

A new box should pop up, click the bullet that says "Install from a list or specific location", then click next

Click the bullet next to "search for the best........"

Tick the box that says "Include this location......." then click the browse button and select the folder you extracted the drivers to. Then click next

Click "Continue anyway" if a box comes up.

The drivers should now install.

A box should pop up with "????????", just click ok.

Then click yes when it asks about 50 Hz

Then click finish.

The eye toy should now be working, again, go in windows explorer, find the folder where you downloaded the drivers and click on "AMCAP" which should have a picture of a video camera next to it.

Click on options at the top AMCAP then click on preview.

If everything is good you should now have a working webcam.

Ill leave it to you to find out how to record and stuff on the program, its fairly simple.

So, there you go, you should now have a working Eye Toy/Webcam.

This is a guide only for windows XP, although it may work on earlier versions.

If that guide doesn't work(it didn't for me) try this one.

How to get your EyeToy working as a webcam in Win2k;
(with thanks to Daniel Wild)

http://support.dlink.com/

Use drop down boxes to locate drivers for;
D-Link DSB-C310 (Rev B1)
Download driver from D-Link

Unzip to a folder
Go to folder, locate OV519.inf,
Right click file,
Properties>Untick 'Read Only'

Open OV519.inf in Notepad
Edit>Replace

Replace
VID_05A9&PID_8519
with
VID_054C&PID_0154
Select 'Replace All'
Save OV519.inf

Then, plug your Eye Toy into the USB port, wait for it to be recognised and
install the drivers' in the normal way using the Have Disk option at the
prompt and the modified OV519.inf file.
(double check which drivers you're installing as my Win2k attempted
to install its own driver)

During the installation, you'll get a system box with ???? in it...this is
the 50Hz/60Hz option setting. I set it to 50Hz for now.
That's it.
The software to view the webcam output is included in the driver pack...
AMCAP.EXE, Options>Tick Preview
You should now get a picture of whatever your EyeToy is pointed at.

Can someone test this with another version of Windows than 2000, using the other drivers on the D-Link site, please?

regards
five

You can also edit the [Strings] section of OV519.inf to correctly describe the Eye Toy (scroll to bottom of OV519.inf). This will show up in Device Manager under Imaging Devices.

DeviceDesc="Eye Toy Camera"

IT WORKED, Thank YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!

There is only one problem in that tutorial, when it says to modify those files, maybe you try to save and it gives you an error, that is because those files are Read-Only, just right click those 3 files>Properties>Click to the bullet that says "read-only"...

And thats it, now i have a working webcam, andmy cousin doesnt use the camera anyways....

THANK YOU AGAIN! :o
