If Trigens made you jump, imagine one of these running screaming at you from the dark, or jumping from a vent . :D

Heh, you thought they looked good stationary? How about moving? Recording of an Unreal Demo.......prepare to have your mind blown, all rendered real time. ;)

Check the bump mapping and pixel shading on the wall, the lighting effects and most of all the sheer detail on the model, all with a relativley low polygon count, just heavily detailed and bumpmapped, meaning relativley good framerates :o.

12MB wmv.

Do you think we could expect these sorts of graphics on the NextGen consoles???
Or is that asking tooooo much???

Its possible, the Xbox 2 is rumoured to have a next generation GFX card. But PC's will always be one step ahead ;).

The developers have been quoted as saying....

'Even though the character models are highly detailed, they do not require a large amount of polygons..so may run at full speed on an Intel Celeron 333mhz with a GeforceMX2'*

Where'd ypu hear that? In the video, they said they were originally running it at 2-5 FPS, and that the NVidia 6800 was the only card capable of achieving decent framerates. In the vide, looked at some points it was 20-30 FPS. No way my system could run that.

Yeah right, it seems to be true. The devlopers for Riddick are using the same method. There using a medium render polygon characture and placing a high res skin over it, and making light reflect on objects that ar 2d to make them look 3d.

It really seems like it can work and use less resources doing so.

they have to, or else no one would be able to play their games, unless they have a $1000 video card

RGX = the image in your video is upside down according to BSplayer. Videolan, on the other hand, seems to not want to show any image output

don't get me wrong i'm sure halo 2 will be good but in 2 yrs the shit-bo.. i mean x-box will be forgotten and i know x-box 2 won't sell very well. I've already visited the future and i watched it crumble and microsoft, spending every little cent they had into the x-box but still couldn't maintain it in the market.

Yay x-box DIE DIE DIE!

THREAD RESSURECTION

Upside down video? , runs fine in BS Player for me. :)

And yes the developer was quoted as saying that UT2004 models use around 15,000 polygons wheras these new hi-res models only use around 10,000 just with huge amounts of bumpmapping and gemotery detaill. This should mean that the models will run well on next-gen hardware, and considering this engine is being put into full use in 2005/2006, all gamers should have one of the new GFX cards by then at low prices. :)

Any more news or screenshots I find, I will post here.
