im looking for this game to play on my xp? if thats possible.
i believe it was originally released by amiga (not 100% sure)

its basically You play as a huge Walker, a robot that looks like one of those huge bots from Robocop movies. It is armed with two huge machine guns capable of destroying everything, from infantry to tanks and aircrafts. You get attacked by multiple enemies on each screen so its a platformer type of shoot-em-up with some heavy music in the background to get u in the mood for some killin. A classic back then. so if u dont know it then u really havnt lived the gaming experience.

controls are: cursor for moving left/right and mouse for aim/shoot.

this is one of the reviews i found if it helps:
Title: Walker OCS
Style: Action
Publisher: Psygnosis, in 1993
Screenshots: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
Review: Not an ordinary shooter game. It has very good graphics design, and animated intro. There are some cool music with digitalized sound effects, as bonus. You travel with your super devastator robot machine and have to stop war, in all ages. It starts at World War II in Berlin...

Oh yeah it's an amiga classic.

I've got the original game and box with me now.

You'll need an amiga emu.

And a copy of workbench I think, there should be plenty around of both, finding a working copy of the game would be harder though.

I just though about this game the other day, since I've got no working amiga at the mo' a conversion or something would be excellent.

ok..im so glad someone replied ( takes moment to get over the excitement)

im totally new to this emulation thing so..
what do i ExacTLY need to be able to play it on my XP and whats a good/safe link that i can ge it from? have u tried it urself?

I'm afraid I haven't done the emulation thing for a long time now.

Used to be much harder.

However start with thishttp://www.codepoet.com/amiga.htm

and this (you need kickstarts to get it working) http://www.meanbean.8k.com/amiga.htm

I'll try looking around for walker.

Here are other emulators: http://www.pure-emu.com/index.php/emulators/amiga

An' here's walker http://amiga.supergamez.hu/EngIntroSet.html

You'll have to figure out what to do with it all though.

I can't seem to get the WinUAE Windows Edition emulator link to work, but I'd say that's the one to get. Comes with OS and everything.

ok thanks..im gonna give it try and then get back to u. this could take some while if i run into truoble and proaably even longer if i manage to get it up and running lol :P [ thats if the game is still as addictive as it was back then ]

u woudnt happen to know if there is any similar type of game been released that have the same hi-quality gaming experience as this? it would be great if there is.

There's nothing quite like it as far as I remember.

But I remember that cannon fodder had some of the same feel to it.

But that's about the same as the snes version except for the sound which isn't as good on snes, and snes emu:s and roms are much easier to get.

Okay, full Amiga Emulation... you'll need these to get started:
Amiga In A Box (AIAB) (http://aiab.emuunlim.com/) & WinUAE (http://www.winuae.net/)

You'll also need a Workbench and various utilities (http://amiga.supergamez.hu/EngUtilFrame.html), and here (http://www.classicamiga.com/kickstartlocator.php) is a Kickstart ROM Locator.

Theres a good amount of games on this page (http://amiga.supergamez.hu/AllGamesFrame.html).
Tons of free and shareware can be found on Aminet (http://www.classicamiga.com/clicks_counter.php?http://uk.aminet.net/%7Eaminet/)

Or, if your the lazy type, you could just buy Amiga Forever (http://www.amigaforever.com/)

Nice unzi

The kickstart I've found, the workbench is supposed to come with WinUAE

So if your links work for win UAE(mine seem dead now) he should be all set.

which kickstart did u get? the latest version is Kickstart 3.1 but i cant find that anywhere except at 'amiga forever' which costs.

i did find kick12.zip [kick12.rom] and kick20.zip [kick20.rom]
note: brackets indicate file inside the zip file

what do i do with this? i have installed InstallWinUAE0821R2.exe.
so now i have the game the kickstart ...all in rom..what im confused!!

Right I went to roms and selected the kickstart rom as my kickstart, then I made a volume which can be used as a hd

Now I need to install the os I guess.

i got the old hand-holding-disc screen now from the kickstart.

Bloody hell, the drive should be called df0, haven't seen that for ages.

Darn, I need workbench anyhow, guess I'm gonna have search for it, it's supposed to be included, but i guess one has to buy it.

Edit: Ok, Scalos from Aiab is supposed to be a replacement for worbench

SnnY:

i did manage to get to amiga dos window but i dont know any commands so i had to emergengy exit (ctrl-alt-del).

when i use winUAE i get:
No Kickstart ROM found with the name Roms\kick.rom, trying default location....

this repeats 4 times and i get blank low res screen. have to ctrl-alt-del to exit

the winUAE is really complicating..there are too many settings detils and too many tabbed windows to look at .. rom harddrive floppy display ... and all the rest wtf?

Snee

Sorted.

Just select the new kick rom.

Then go to floppies and load up the walker adf file you got from my walker link and voila.

i'm running it right now.

No workbench required to run the adf. :D

It works great on win uae.

EDit: have selected "emulated" on the audio filter

and "shared" on game and I/O ports

OH MY GOD ITS WORKING. THIS GAME F**KIN ROCKS. (although the graphics are rather lame and it kept asking me to put in this disk and that disk for like 10 mins) but who cares.. the sound of the machine barrel heating up and rolling on empty was wicked...and those little mini me snipers shootin pellets while parashuting from a bomber plane LOL  .i know i probably sound like a total anorak and rather geekish speaking like this but the game is just THAT GOOD.

I thought there was a some kick ass music during game-play which i havnt come across yet. and my resolution needs a slight adjustment.

have u got past the first stage yet? lol .. i just paused it to write this piece of msg.lol

graphics are beginning to get to me a little bit..

HAHAHAH i know what u mean..if i play this for too long i have a feeling due to its repetitiveness of the game im gonna end up playing it in my sleep and wake up with a gigantic headache the nxt morning.

do u know of any newer versions that are as good as this for the pc?

thanks for helping me set it up..i couldnt have done it in such a short time with u dude. :D

Snee

Actually I don't think it's what made my head hurt, but it didn't help I guess.

I think it may have been a one off, I remember making my pc-owning buddy jealous with Walker, he never found a copy for pc. :D

the funny thing is back then in 90's i never actally owened the actual game..get this.....i just had a demo version.   ROFLMAO thats pretty sad i know but i was a kid back then and my parents thought it was too violent to even be on shelf so there was no way they were even let look at it let alone own one...FASCISTS! (kidding)

Snee

I remember always wanting Zeewolf, i have to get that, only tried the demo.

And there are games I only read about in English mags i have to get as well :D

EDit: hey I think you can save your games by using the "save state" function.

if only i had a time machine back then i could have jumped to the future and downloaded and burnt all the games onto a cd and brought it back and played them ( even before there were even wirtten) hypothetically speaking ofcourse  ...and then find out that cd;s wernt invented yet ( i think) so jump back to the future again and bring back seperate floppy filed games and let all my mates drool over them...hahahahahaha...
.
.
.
.
.
. i think im going loopy with nostalgia.
im gonna give sensible soccer a go.. i use to play that game to death.
this has all the games u can think of but i think u allready hav the link:

Oooh get moonstone, that was great (fantasy game).

Okay, just updated my original post (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=109045&view=findpost&p=974819) with the rest of the required files as well as some nice resources for anyone who came in late.
We now have everything needed to fully emulate an Amiga system. :D

Snee
04-16-2004, 11:46 AM
Actually we kinda' had enough to emulate a fully working A500 system two days ago, but this gives us everything, methinks.

It'll be just like running an A2000 again, which is pretty sweet, so, well done! :D

Still got an Amiga 500, but the game disk is broke. I loved this game too.

Might have a go soon enough, emulation and all.

I've been meaning to check this great old system out for ages now.
This topic just gave me an excuse to get started.

I figured I might as well try 'n get us all the best bits, seeing as the price was right.

Snee

Like i said: well done! :D

I've got an A600HD meself, but it's messed up somehow, can't get it to work, and I've also got an hd and some other bits from the A2000, my parents made me throw away the rest though, 'cuz it took to much room, wasn't very happy about that, let me tell ya.

Got 50+ original games about the place, 3 tac 2's and some other joysticks, not to mention bundles of pirated games and proggies, all of which can't be used(until I get the comp running).

I've even got an original AMOS kit somewhere.

sadly my amiga went in the trash some 5/6 years ago and the pc took over from there.

btw..i managed to get the Amiga Forever from kazaa. its so easy and it works. could only find ver 4 and ver 5.1 but sadly not the latest ver 6.0

Although i still prefer AIAB/winUAE as it takes up less mem. but SWOS doesnt work. All i get is a fuzzy screen but the misic plays alright. i have feeling something aint set up right.

for some reason i can not get Sensible Soccer 96-97 to work on Amiga forever either . It was asking me to instert the OLD disk 1.....???? what the heck is the OLD disk 1..i only got disk 1 and 2 and none of them worked. can someone give it a try and see what im doing wrong.
