This is what I mean. http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showt...=0&#entry976969 (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=109167&st=0&#entry976969)

There is no reason to copy the pictures that are already in the thread. And to boot multiple times. Have some thought to us on 56k.

That's why there is a 'Image Resize' setting in place.

Try placing your hand in your pockets and paying a little extra for broadband. It can't be that more expensive where you live <_<

The Image Resize makes the image appear smaller in the thread, but the filesize is still the same.

Also, that last sentence wasn't appreciated. I'm on 56k, and some people can't afford broadband, is that a problem?

I don't really understand what you are talking about. Do you mean when a member quotes a picture? Because I thought it would just load it again from your cache no?

umm no offense not everybody CAN just get dsl

for instance living in Australia only 25% of peopel can get it here for insane prices ;)

and 64% of teh US still are on dial up 74% in the UK

statistics say

we don't all live in America where we can just ring up hey give me a #mb connection for $30 and have it turned on tomorrow

I'm paying $60 with a 16 gig cap a month just for 256/64 so life isn't just that easy in every place you live

Once your browser has downloaded the picture, even if they are quoted 5000 times it won't take any longer to load. They go into your temporary internet files for later viewing. If they don't its you thats made that configuration.

Or, the easy solution would be to go in to your board settings and say NO to viewing images etc.

Question: Would you want to hang around for 10 minutes waiting for those pics to download for the first time?

@ Cyril: - Disabling images means 56K users will miss out on a sizeable chunk of forum content.
Program and game screenshots for previews and troubleshooting, album covers, funny pics in the Lounge... all gone.
That's hardly fair, is it?

Yes, and before that we didn't have a connection at all, and before that we only had green screens, and before that they used punched card and tickertape..

what's your point?

Just a suggestion - chill out.
I was on 56k not that long ago. had pictures off, and when there were screen shots and stuff I wanted to see then would enable it.

I don't agree, some people post large pictures, for no other reason than, they are too lazy to resize them. Why should people on dial-up suffer because of them?

We here in New Zealand are being ripped off by Telecom who charge a lot more for broadband and put a low cap on it as well, so the broadband takeup in NZ is very low - only about 10%.

I too find it a bit frustrating to wait for pages to load when you are in a hurry to post a reply, it sometimes puts you off reading threads.

Could not they make it an otpion to view the pics ?

Regards

download mozilla firefox 0.8, then get some extensions such as 'adblock'. you can basically delete any image on a page from ever showing up ever again.

There's nothing wrong with quoting an image, I thought that once you had the image in your cache you didn't download it again if you saw it again so it wouldn't make a difference if it was quoted or not so there is no arguement...

I could be wrong tho :P
