View Full Version : Is It Supposed To Take This Long?

I'm currently using g3Torrent and I'm currently trying to download Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. And when I look at the time left it almost always says either a couple hundred hours or a few days (like 11 to 13). This even happens with movies I want to download.

I always look around on the forums and hear people say that they download games and movies in a matter of hours (i.e. a day). I'd be lucky if the file I'm downloading even progresses 2-3% a day.

I'm wondering now if I'm using the wrong bittorrent client and using the wrong settings?

Any advice would be great.

P.S: I also wanted to know from others that use Bittorrent if they can estimate how long it would normally take them to download a game like Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (PC) from suprnova at a size of 2744MB (roughly 2.7 GB) and a movie at about 700 MB?

Make sure the file you're downloading has many seeds, like 100+ otherwise it'll be really slow like you said.

This is what was reported on the SN forums...

So we have a small snag and everyone has decided to spam the forum moaning about it. Yes I'm aware the site has bad name error's on some torrents etc etc, we are working towards a solution so please no more new threads on this. Just be patient. Some of you have been spitting your dummies and stamping your feet and it's starting to grate a little, just remember that this is a FREE SERVICE, we will have it sorted soon.

Nope. I'm not on a router.

Oh and I know what you mean about the seeds fav5. The KOTOR file only has like 17 seeds on suprnova. Man that sucks.

i think it depends purely on the source - sometimes i max out my connection overnight and get a dvd-r (4.3GB) at full pelt right through (60Kbytes/sec)

when friends came out the other day, i got it (200MB) in like 3/4 hour.

but then again ive been getting a concert dvd for like 4 days now

it all depends on the source, if you dont have router probs etc

I'll be sure to do that.

I also wanted to know what is the best client I can get right now.

Right now I'm looking at ABC and Azureus since I've heard great things about them.

I once had TorrentStorm and then uninstalled it (I don't know why). But I'll be getting those two and putting them to the test for sure. :D

Yeah ABC is working great for me.

I have Kill Bill Vol. 2 downloading at speeds above 20 kB/s. With any luck it'll be done in about 16 hours or so. :D

Fastest speeds I've ever reached so far. :D

Ive gotten a 7 gig file in 5 and a half hours using TorrentStorm.
Where do you live? you can use dslreports.com then go into tools and select speed test if you live in the us.

I use Shadow client, average speed is 40kb/ps, Suprnova has gone pearshaped at the mo so I'd use Isohunt if I were you. :D
