Newbie Help?

ive been using bt shadows experimental which i got off forum. i was just wondering if this is best client to be using cos for past few month ive been gettin terribly low speeds like between 2-10 KB/s. i have a half meg broadband connection. if any1 could advise which is best client to use n settings for it to get best download/upload speeds i would appreciate it.

i do use router but have port forwarded on it. i always get the green light on. just been trying abc for few hrs n so far still not getting over 10k speeds. ive tried diff torrents aswell but jus dont seem to get the speed.

no dont think so on abc at min bt status is: working properly aswell i just cant seem to get the speeds??? could it be somet else blocking?


does it make a difference how many u download at once shud it jus be 1 at a time??

i use the old fashion bittorent ive tried the other and i jus cant get the speeds i do with bit 3.4.2

@ckuk cant get azerus to work after installing it???

im currently running shatows bit tornado n ive got kill bill 2 going with 241 peers and 19 seeds n cant get over 20 KB/s! any ideas?? :D :D

it kinda does.
when i'm using a large percentage of upload bandwitdth my download speed decreases dramatically. the only time i can use my full download bandwith is when i have upload set at 3-5kB/s out of 40, of course that way i get the file lot faster , but i have to sepnd long time uploading after i'ts finished. I think it s reccomended to only use 80% of you upload speed to send the file to other people.

maybe when you have a lot of files downloading and more connections you need more upload bandwidth to send the information you need to download?

Mate with azureus you need to install java too..

Have you tried using another p2p apps to check download speeds? Is it possible your ISP is throttling your bandwidth?

make sure u r not downloading with a nother program that might take up ur net.

try downloading a nother file and see if the speeds are any better.
might just me that file.
im all so downloading kill bill 2 and its goin realy slow <_< :(

i managed to get it m8 cheers i got azerus running now it seems better not brill speeds but better. jus few queries

1- no one seems to be uploading from me n i even got 1 torrent seeding but stiill no-little uploads on it? ive set on config wizard to my connection ive tried to config seeding bit on configuration but the set up guide i found does not match the version i got (2.0.8.4) so jus done best i can any pointers??

2- got kill bill 2 downloading n its been stuck on 99.5% for hours n it keeps saying under 1 minute left on ETA any ideas??

If the colour&#39;d lights are ok m8 ...The torrent may not need anything from you n recieving from others..Make sure you dont use super-seed mate unless you&#39;re sharing your own file.

it happens now n again m8 i nornmally stop/start the torrrent.It should complete then.

i already tried that but still stuck i got 2 torrents now stuck on 99.8% been like that for over day now but i got connections to people with 100% im very confused is there nothing i can do??

Click on the box that looks like an EXE file OR the filename beneath it.

Azureus works well for me.

When I had 576/256 adsl I set the upload rate to 16kbps and the default max uploads to 3. Download speeds were up to mid 60s kbps and averaged around 30 kbps.

Once you have a download started keep hitting the manual update button until you have an acceptable speed, provided there are enough speedy connections in the swarm.

Also remember that with BT you normally start slow and build up speed and, if it&#39;s a newly seeded torrent you will go no faster than the upload speed of the seeder.

yeah like isaid azerus does seem to be better jus still cant finish couple downloads there just stuck downloading failed hashes n discarding them but i am connected to people with 100% so....? does this mean im never gonna finish them? :frusty:

also i dont seem to be able to get green icon any more my downloads r all yellow at min im behind a router but ive port forwarded n i know its worked cos i had green on all of them recently n dont think ive changed owt since. any ideas any1?

If you are using Azureus, what is the number to the right of "pieces status" in the torrent details>general window?

If it is less than 1 you are stiffed. If you do have seeds (100% ers) in your swarm then all you can do is wait and follow any advice offered about firewalls, routers and port forwarding to see if you can go green.

THEY ARE ALL OVER 40 IN THE PEICE STATUS. I HAVE ONE TORRENT ON GREEN AT MIN BUT 2 ON YELLOW N IVE STILL GOT ONE OF THEM STUCKJ ON 99.7% ON THE ONE THATS STUCK NOT FINISHING I GOT THE YELLOW LIGHT BUT IM CONNECTED TO 27 PEERS N I GOT 32 IN PIECE STATUS BUT STILL CANT FINISH IT&#33;&#33;&#33; :huh: :frusty:

leave azu install&#39;d n try shadows to complete it..

After shadow&#39;s install&#39;d make a shortcut on the desktop..double click or open..load the torrent.
