Simpsons stars settle pay dispute
The Simpsons is moving into its 16th series on US TV
The actors who provide the voices for hit cartoon The Simpsons are back in the studio, after a pay dispute over contracts led the stars to stop work.

Terms of the deal between the show's chief actors and 20th Century Fox Television were not revealed.

Fox TV said they "couldn't be happier to have reached a multiyear deal with the enormously talented cast".

The studio remained optimistic that all 22 episodes of the new season would be completed, despite a month-long hiatus.

Pay dispute

Variety said the row involved actors including Dan Castellaneta, who voices Homer, Julie Kavner, who plays Marge, and Bart actress Nancy Cartwright.

Others reportedly involved were Hank Azaria - the voice of Moe - Harry Shearer, who plays Mr Burns, and Yeardley Smith, who voices Lisa.

The pay dispute was believed to involve the renewal of their three-year contracts.

Each cast member was seeking about $360,000 (£203,000) per episode, the trade paper Variety reported in April.

Costly row

The actors were previously earning $125,000 (£70,000) per episode.

A previous dispute among staff on the show took place in 1998, when the actors were making $30,000 (£16,000) per episode.

A spokesman representing the cast said they had no immediate comment, following the latest pay deal.

So popular is the show, created by Matt Groening, that even the loss of a couple of episodes of the animated series would have been costly for Fox.

I thought the title of this thread was a joke. You know cartoon reality. Jeez, $360K per episode. That's 7.9mil a year for voice overs. OMG.
