How long do you reckon it takes a RUF CTR Yellowbird to go from a standstill to 200 miles per hour, and then stop?

This is closest so far, but still a way out.

I can't really say too much for fear of giving away the answer, but here's a couple of things that might help...

The terminal speed at the standing mile is 189mph
It takes 450 metres to stop from 200mph

I've been up since about 11pm last night (7 hours or so) cos I had to write an essay :(

I think Samurai has won, he's within 4 tenths of a second

The actual time is 47.20 seconds. The 0-200 time is ~ 35.5 seconds, the 200-0 time is 11.19 seconds.

What can I say, I was impressed :)

edit: here's a couple of clips of the car in action:

Video 1 (http://www.arap78.dsl.pipex.com/RUF1.wmv)
Video 2 (http://www.arap78.dsl.pipex.com/RUF2.wmv)

If you've never seen these videos before (Stefan Roser driving the Yellowbird at the Nordschleife), then you're in for a treat :o

Why would you want to go from a standstill to 200 miles per hour, and then stop?

I guess 'cuz someone already did it, and someone else wants to do it better/faster. :)

It is kind of pointless, in and of itself, but it is a recognized measuring stick. ;)

Bikes are fast at accelerating, Jonno, I'll give you that, but they're a little lacking at braking and going round corners ;)
