when i go to install doom 3, which i've previously had on my system. I get the option to play the game or uninstall the game.

Neither of them work, play doesnt work because i uninstalled it from my system a while ago.. and uninstall doesn't work because i get this..

followed by the installation wizard closing..

I get it with a few other games too and only thing i can think of is when i repartioned the drive they were on (resizing 2 partitions). Now i have the game stuck in add/remove and i cannot install it. How can i get it installed again or atleast have them removed from add/remove? :(

My suggestion would be: delete the folder of the game (if still exists) and then try to install it again by opening the CD (not using autoplay) and start "setup.exe" or whatever the filename of the installation files is.

report back if it worked

Get "TuneUp Utilities 2004 (http://www.tune-up.com/)" and clean your registry with "TuneUp RegistryCleaner" (included with TU Utilites) and use "TuneUp Uninstall Manager" (included with TU Utilites) to remove the entry from the "Install/Uninstall Software" list.

After you're done, try to install/uninstall the game again.

Hope that will help.

Was going to suggest diggin around in the registry, but doing it with a third party utility as posted above sounds like a better option.

If that doesn't do it, be sure to backup your registry before you go manually digging around.

Ok, maybe this could work.
Try "System Restore" (Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore).

PS: Doom 3 sux anyway.Wait for Half Life 2, that's a good game :D

system restore atleast 2 months ago? not worth it :P

and yeah half life 2 will be better but half life 2 isn't out yet ;)

Get something like Norton System Works or TuneUp Utilities. That can maybe fix ur problem.

this is the only thing left (that i can think of) that could cause the problem..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v311/therealdave/d33.jpg

i have tried removing the ID folder from the regestry, didn't work. I also tried renaming it i.e. PROGRA~1 to Program files, etc.. still didn't work.

I see no "invalid characters" there so what on earth is the problem?
