It has been the second tuesday of the month again, which means that Microsoft has released some new security updates.

Windows Update (http://www.windowsupdate.com)
Office Update (http://www.officeupdate.com)

Thanks

But why every tuesday? You'd think that something as important as a security update would be released as soon as it has been made.

Not every tuesday, only once a month. I guess it is to keep things simple for people who need to update lots of computers at once.

Wouldn't it be a good idea then to let people choose when to receive the new updates?
Either get them as soon as they're available or choose a set date every month or week.

thats why they release the updates every first tuesday of the month. People have nicknamed it black tuesday because thats the day they have to update there networks.

Because you'll need Monday to recover from your hangover during the weekend. :shifty:

ya every first tuesday is what i meant.

ya anyone noticed microsoft software always takes hours to install, usually at the copying files part?
all other software, better software, installs at a fraction of the time. :frusty:

good example is internet explorer 6 on windows 98. Takes about 30 mins to isntall with a 333mhz computer, while firefox can isntall in 30seconds max.

For network admins, they can use a product that is free from Microsoft called SUS Server. It downloads all critical updates and lets you choose which updates to install and which ones not to install. The computers that do not have internet access can still get the updates from the SUS server.

You can get more info http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/sus/default.mspx

Anyone know anything about a latest update called
"Microsoft GDI+detection Tool"?

it looks a bit dodgy to me.....
Does it check your computer for Illegal Microsoft software???

@billly, I think that's the one that fixes the JPEG security vulnerability in microsoft applications.

Did nothing for me when i installed though. :(
