View Full Version : Election Burnout

As much as I like to talk politics and about this election I think that I become burnt out with the whole thing. I am so ready for this whole damn thing to be over.

Our state elections are just as nasty as the Presidential. You can’t go two minutes without seeing a ad on the Tv or on the radio. Even more annoying than that is they candidates are constantly calling the house which drives me crazy because they always seem to call when I have a plate of food in my hand

Anyone else fed up with this whole thing?

Vidcc,

I must object to your infringement on my style.

The very first time I responded to BigTankFrank, it was an honest error, I just read his name wrong. Since then I have made it a point to get his name wrong, currently preferring "Frankthetank", everytime as my inside joke to myself.

Your adulteration of his name (hankiepankie) is quite frankly beyond the pale and an encroachment upon my modus operandi.

Please give me a contact number so that I may pass this on to my attorneys.

goes to show how much I pay attention to your quotes :D ...I knew nothing of it untill you pointed it out...unfortunatley you omitted to copyright the name "hankiepankie" and after some researching I in fact found that it is public domain and therefore fair game....in fact i will be opening up a filesharing prog. and distributing it free to anyone that wants to view it....bring it on :01:

I wonder whether there any Political Historians or whatever you call it
that actually Archive all the Hype\Gossip\Paraodies\Flash\Threads\CandidateBashings\Ads etc ?

I then also wonder that - since it seems that every us president seems to open their own Presidential Museum after their term of office - whether these items are also submitted?

Or is that the Michaelmoores job?

It doesn’t surprise me at all vid. Things here have gotten real bad in the last few days with the candidates who are running for congress. This may surprise you though; today I even hung up on the Republican candidate for congress. I can’t wait until this is over.

i didn't say which party it was but let's just say they didn't stand much chance of getting my vote this year anyway:dry: ..... but then it wasn't the party they were for that annoyed me....it was just them being there with their posters and leaflets

It goes even deeper. I know of one young man who refuses to spend a traditionaly spent Christmas at his Grandparents because they are voting different than he.

I have nothing in me to understand this.

I saw a US pundit on CNN saying that overall election fatigue is setting in. He also noted that this campaign has been so divisive and close that no matter what the outcome, 50% of the country is going to be devastated by the result.

I have to say I am glad our elections are limited to three weeks. I am usually ready to gnaw my own head off by the third week as it is.

Oh that's certainly true to a degree. Roughly half of the people that bothered to vote didn't want Bush as president. And his extremism policies and actions have indeed drawn an even stronger divide in the country than before.
It not good for the country as a whole to have such a close result.

@Biggles - Although I have a lot of time and energy invested into the election if Bush were to loose I wouldn’t be devastated but disappointed.

@Rose - Our family is half Dem half Republican and none of us will give an inch. Whatever the outcome of this election may be its going to make for some great conversation at Thanksgiving :D

I have to admit, he isnt even my President, and im already devastated 'coz its so close..

If he wins, devestated will not convey how i'll feel...

i think more to the point...if Bush wins a few more countries will be devestated...

For a little comedic relief from the Election Burnout....Saturday Night Live has a President Bash on at 9:00 central time tonight on NBC. I am hoping to watch it.

I heard The Daily Show is having their own coverage tomorrow, alongside CNN and FOX (I imagine). SNL used to be funny...but the quality has gone down quite a bit over the last little while.

california political adverts are a bummer. every election season it's a slew of ads from nurses in favor of public health care, other nurses opposed to public health care, native americans in favor of something to do with casinos, other native americans opposed to something to do with casinos, cops in favor of this, cops opposed to that... and now schwarzenegger popping up every 10 minutes with an opinion about a proposition just adds a little bit more to the headache. :P
