Just saw the old movie about Kevin Mitnik
in the movie they discover a way that with your own mobile phone you can scan or
use it as a phone radio to listen to other peoples mobile phone conversations.
Is this true?

I've seen something similar discussed elsewhere.
It was about Viruses for the New phones,
which are gettin bigger, software wise.

There was a mention about scanning devices,
cant remember what was it about, but something
on the lines stealing data out of phones, catching
the transmission.

i dont know if its still possible, but i know it was possible.......... i think conversations are encrypted nowadays though........

I think this was easy to do before digital networks. All you needed was a scanner to tell you what frequency the phone was using and then something to listen at that frequency. An average person could do it with about $500 worth of stuff.

No it is very possable and even eaiser now adays! Search for spy equipment or cell phone scanners or someting of the sort... they sell for about $3,000 to $5,000 dollors and allow u to select the # u want to scan... So basicly u program the # in the cell scanner and when a call goes through that cell phone it will give u a warning and let u listen in!

cept that in most countries they need a warrant, and cant use a scanner (illegal to listen to other peoples conversations w/o their permission)........ they get the tap from the source: the switchboard......... saves alot of trouble, and you dont have to be in the same cell as the transmitting phone

Does the AU 028 X Interceptor or the AU 013 scanner work on digital cell phones or with the GSM network?

I think both phones are for analog use..they will not work on digital, gsm, tdma and the other ma's
