Having an odd problem today.

My pc won't play any sounds  If i go into the sound bit in control panel it tells me there is no audio device although when I go into device manager it tells me the sound card is functioning properly.

If i reboot it finds it again but then drops it again

Any one got any ideas? It was fine yesterday, all i have done today is install winamp 5.06

Winamp? K, im not about to install that then...

Well, you could try reinstalling drivers, check if there's new drivers on da net.
Or, if its on PCI slot, remove it for one boot and then put it back,
maybe even try different slot, depends on IRQ's thought...

I ran dxdiag and got this message

DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver)

yet in device manager it says it is there and is functioning propelry :(

K, reinstall or install DirectX 9c.

I dont think one can uninstall it,
but there might be some little remover-app
out inda net.

Get DirectX from here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/
