Open.

I can't stand forums or sites that require you to sing up before you can see anything.
Sharing files is good, sharing knowledge is better. :01:

Open if everyone was reasonable. But that is not the case, so I say closed.

We have it right atm, everything is open except the verifieds.

I realised it registered but the recent "A**L C**t" posts makes me wonder if allowing anyone as a guest to post is a good idea. we could be targetted a lot easier by guests.

I don't know if ip addresses can be banned for guests.

I prefer it as it is.I dislike the forums where you can`t(as cheese say`s)lurk for abit before you register and start making posts. :D

Open for the obvious reasons, but for my own reasons, I have to say I prefer it closed. That way people have to create accounts before they can read my posts.

And yes, I'm sure he's reading this.

I mean open to view, not to post. 'Guests' posting would never work....remember IN in the old guest room?

4 people Disagree

[Setting: Big Open field]

[We pan down and see the 4 Helens split into two groups. They are arguing.]

Announcer: 4 Helens Can't Agree...

[The Helens all argue until Helen Vernando raises her hand and yells]

Helen Vernando: Hey! Can't we just agree to disagree?

[The groups of Helens stop yelling and nod to each other]

Announcer: 4 Helens Agree... To Disagree.

I completely thought the poll read "Should the forum be open or closed to quests?" and wondered what kind of quests would possibly involve this forum.

That's why I marked something else. Also guides should be hidden.

Actually I say the filsharing sections should be closed (just allow guests to see topic titles). It may have an answer to a question and they must register to see it.

Certain sections must stay open though. How else would we attract new posters if they don't know what the forum is like?

I don't think guests should be allowed to see anything. At all.

We should hunt them down and gouge out their eyes. Which will, of course, be returned to them should they then join the forum.

Open for a while and then closed and then repeat

That way they find useful info here, maybe come back occasionally to read some stuff, and then when they can't they join up and then its a slippery slope to being a proper posting member. Once you get them to join up they're as good as hooked, but not many will bite when they can't see the bait.

Some merit there, too.

I like the idea of a bait and switch. :D

I think it should be open. I know as a fact that I usually don't end up signing up for sites that require you to login to see anything because I don't like to signup for sites that I don't know what they are like.

HOWEVER, I think that the verifieds section and possibly others should be off limits to the guests and that they should be told to signup to view verifieds.
