The lot of you need to cut the shit.

Everyone is able to donate. You don't because other things take priority.

Beer, a new video game, eating out, prostitutes, whatever the case may be.

The point is if you put some of that on the back burner, you could spare $10, $5, or even $1 dollar.

The point is you don't want to...so cut the "I can't" bullshit.

If you really want to donate, focus on the how and not the why not.

The feelgood words mean shit when coupled with inaction.

Sharon Osbourne is so moved by the plight of the Asian tsunami disaster victims - she has pledged a donation of $190,000. The judge on British TV talent show X Factor initially donated $47,500, but decided to give more after watching endless "heartbreaking" news reports Osbourne, who earned $13.3 million in 2004, says, "There are really no words to describe how devastated we are to see this unfold. This is just heartbreaking - donating money is the least we can do. We have been watching all the terrible news coverage and we wanted to give some more money. Our hearts go out to all those affected."

Read the news.

I've gave directly, and probably indirectly as I have money going to Oxfam every month anyway from my salary.

How much I gave, is a matter for my consiance, and is nowt to do with anyone else. Its not a "Race" to see who can and will give the most.

Many people here and elsewhere have gave and really shouldnt have, due to their own circumstances..

Well, all crudas to those people, no matter how small their donations...

They are the real hero's. Not the multi-millionaire that gives $47,000 as a tax loss, but the guy that doesnt know where his next meal is coming from, that puts 50p in a bucket.

Saying that... giving money that you dont have, or need in order to feed or house your family... well that would be just silly, wouldnt it.

Busyman
01-04-2005, 05:37 PM
I have direct debits for my charities of choice. Those being World Vision (2 sponsored kids), Oxfam and Unicef.

I will also make a payment to the collection in my work for the tsunami relief. I make one-off payments as I see fit.

It is all money which I can afford. I do not save (at all) and work from month to month. So the money would just be spent on other crap that we don't really need in the first place.

I have no problem with others who either cannot, or choose not to donate to charity. It is matter for the individual. However, in my experience it does your karma no end of good.
My sentiments exactly.

I always say that if you want to do something, you find a way. If your children are starving, you find a way. Even with no money.

I understand that one must take care of one's self first in order to take care of others. Being highly motivated, I hate when people say they can't do something that they are in control of.

I simply say I don't want to do it.

By saying I can't, but want to is utterly depressing and full of crapshitpiss.

If you want to do it, then do it or STFU!!!

I personally have other things to take care of.

I give to other charities, and want to put another bathroom in.

Reality.

Feelgoodcraptalk still has crap and talk in it.

Might I suggest that you show some insight into other people, and not assume that we know what you're thinking.

Insight? You came off with the "I don't give a fuck first", from that a gather an assumption was made.

The fact is that you come about as an arrogant fuck with that statement. it's almost like you withold information about your position deliberately, just to fault peoples assumptions about it later.

My position, nipshit, was nope...if you hadn't gathered. I would've expounded on the point but was slightly busy at the time but low and behold then came your comment which gave me nice insight into "the moral high ground" that many take with shit to show for it.

It's what Mrs Manker spends on chrome fitings for your house.

As previously discussed I make my fixed payments to World Vision, Oxfam and Unicef. I think they fit the criteria you are looking for, Mrs JP (The Saint who walks amongst us) looked into it and found them to fit the bill. They are reputable, organised and as much of the cash as possible gets to the right place.

Stick in a wee direct debit or two to one or more of them. If of course that is the sort of thing you wish to support. It'll do your karma the world of good and will do a lot of good elsewhere in t'world.

World Vision (https://secure.worldvision.org.uk/waystodonate/sponsorachildaffiliates/sponsornow/default.asp#childtop)

OXFAM (http://www.oxfam.org.uk/)

UNICEF (http://www.unicef.org/)

Posted with no apologies to anybody. There are people suffering and dying every day. You can set up a payment of 1 or 2 pounds a month which will make a difference to people's lives. Most people wouldn't even notice it.

If you have read this far, thanks for that. You know it makes sense.

Agree with the above.

Being of such a low income (I don't like to use the word poor because I have chosen to survive on as little as I can) I cannot donate much hard cash to those whom need it more than me, so I try to offer help in more direct ways. I would like to go to the earthquake affected areas to offer practical assistance but I don't have the money to pay for my rent over here whilst I would be over there. I have contacted a friend who is in Koh Samui, Thailand to ask if there is anything that I can send that will be of any help.

And i think the biggest wallets should carry the biggest donations and by that

i don't mean the pityfull 10.000 George Bush has contributed out of his "öwn"

wallet(wich he without a doubt did after being advised to...... :( )

In Holland now it seems to become a Tsunami of charity-activities, from

children giving their christmasgifts away to big and small concerts,

fleemarkets, footballplayers giving away signed shirts for auction(cheapo's!)

and tonight a big simultaneous broadcast on three majar networks.

My biggest shock was to hear children in Atjeh are taken to sell for adoption,

or worse, prostitution.......... :(

And Imagine what could have been done with the money that was spent
