View Full Version : How do i disable windows xp sp2 virs protection ?

When i got to Control panel->Security Center, it has windows virus protection enabled , may someone please tell me how to disable this , im completely clueless .

I know i've created a few topics , sorry :(

If you simply want to turn it of.... simply go Control panel--> Security center
Click the link shown in the picture.Untick the Antivirus thing...

best thing to do is just go to services.msc and stop and disable the security center.

anyway..what virus protection are you talking about...sp2 doesn't install any. :blink:

I dont think he wants to disable it completely, only the antivirus section

That being the case, perhaps the best solution would be to go to the web site of the anti-virus manufacturer and search for a patch. By now, I would wager that pretty much all the "heavy hitters" in this category have released fixes to enable it so that SP2's Security Center can recognize/report it's exsistance. Making certain that the actual software itself is up-to-date would not be a bad idea as well.

in the security center i beleive this is....
next to the anti-virus warning thingamabobber...
theres a "recommendations" button
hit that and then check the box that says something along the lines of:
"I have an anti-virus that I will monitor myself"

sheesh, and i dont even use SP2 :P
