I’m looking for transparent casing in the old desktop style, not the tower model, but the laying down type (not too sure if there’s an official term for it, I just call them desktops as apposed to tower? )

The only specs are it should be a desktop case, standard ATX, transparent and a UK order. I’ve looked about in the usual places but can’t seem to find one

Cheers VB, that's exactly what I'm looking for, is it standard ATX though?

Fits all micro ATX and some of baby ATX size motherboards

Edit: I don't think they ship to the UK :ermm:

Looks like it's for smaller than standard ATX. Maybe you could contact them and ask if you board will fit: http://www.logisyscomputer.com/viewsku.asp?SKUID=CS688CL&DID=C001

Send them an email: http://www.logisyscomputer.com/contact.asp

They don't ship to the UK, it's a shame, that's the sort of case I meant

Still open to suggestions

Fox, finding that specific style in Plexi could be tough, although constructing one yourself looks relatively simple ( compared to a tower design).

Are you sure you want to go with plastic?
All of the owners complain about the difficuly of keeping them clean and smudge-free.

holy chit!
i was gonna say try 'n' see how much lexan would cost,
(as clocker said, it wouldnt be hard to build)
then i saw this......

just a wee bit expensive :P

.125 in. thick sheets are only $157 though
and the bitch is, 4' x 8' sheets are the best way to go, even if you dont need that much,
because they almost triple the price per sq. ft. if you ask em to cut it

The trick to buying Lexan/Plexiglass is to go to a fabrication shop or distributor....they almost always have cutoffs to sell.

shit, i worked in a machine shop for a pretty big company,
they had to have done 100 million a year in sales i'm guessing,
and we hardly ever saw a sheet of lexan
(we stocked all the replacement parts for the injection molding presses,
in addition to all of our machining supplies, because the techs in production
were fk-offs and couldnt change a light bulb w/o fking it up) :P

It's definitely Plexiglass I'm after, cleaning won't be a problem ;) There's a local PC shop that has something similar to what I hope to build and the kind Sir that runs the shop simply replied with "Dunno" when I asked him where I could purchase the same sort of case :ermm:

I don’t really fancy making one, if anyone knows of any similar desktop style cases then links will be much appreciated :)

Quote : Not at this time, but perhaps in the future if enough people expressed interest.
