I think most of these ppl has too much free time and no PC (internet).

There is a wee bit of good news there, although a bit ironic. They will be keeping all those cotton pickers in jobs to produce white sheets.

It is a pity that the Nazi empire changed the meaning or the Swastika. For over 3000 years it was a symbol of life and good luck.

To the person in the picture it may be a Hindu religious symbol

What does it mean now?

It seems if you face angles counter-clockwise, it ain't a Nazi symbol.

Not unless it's Nazi both ways. :(

It has become a symbol of hate and murder because of the Nazis, which is why it has become almost the most offensive symbol ever

i really doubt that -hindu swatika did not require white background and red circle.

What does it mean now?
sit on plane between a south african boer and a jew from new york and simply ask them cultural questions. Youll find the answer.

I found this (http://history1900s.about.com/cs/swastika/a/swastikahistory.htm)

In ancient times, the direction of the swastika was interchangeable as can be seen on an ancient Chinese silk drawing.

Some cultures in the past had differentiated between the clockwise swastika and the counter-clockwise sauvastika. In these cultures the swastika symbolized health and life while the sauvastika took on a mystical meaning of bad-luck or misfortune.

But since the Nazis use of the swastika, some people are trying to differentiate the two meanings of the swastika by varying its direction - trying to make the clockwise, Nazi version of the swastika mean hate and death while the counter-clockwise version would hold the ancient meaning of the symbol, life and good-luck.

none the less it is...um 33's design (aka "stop sign" design) and hindu chill designers have better taste. That tshirt can relate to no other thing than the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (aka nazi) - either the guy had no clue or he is so into the zen of " The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix."

anyway - 2005 and racism still rocks the world

fantastic

It does not matter which way it is facing. It is not a Nazi symbol. It is just a symbol the Nazis used.:) Both symbols were present before the Nazis.:)

Just being pedantic.

White Men! White women! The swastika is calling you. The Jew is using the black as muscle against you. And you are left there helpless. Well, what are you going to do about it, whitey? Just sit there? Of course not. You, are going to join with us. The members of the American Socialist White peoples Party. An organisation of decent, law abiding white folk. Just like you.

The way I understand it from what I've read elsewhere, the directions haven't been interchangeable for several centuries.

It doesn't matter much though.

Cool then from what I gather a swastika....

1. Turned in any direction with right angles facing any direction is still a swastika but.....

2. The Nazi use of it is specifically turned shaping a diamond versus a square and right angles face clockwise and.....

3. Any other way it's used should not be construed as a Nazi symbol but....

4. Most people don't know about number 2 so are offended anyway.

Over the millenia it has been used at differing angles

From what I read, yeah ok. It's number 1.

Are you talking about the Nazi swastika?

why does everyone miss the point when it comes to the swastika?

i understand you. you aren't saying microsoft are nazis, you're just wondering if the stigma of power attached to the letter X was subconsciously around upto 100 years ago

I know of a bloke from turkey who was/possibly still is a neo-nazi.

He wasn't black, but he was definitely swarthier than the "aryan" ideal.

Weird bloke.

@vid: I was just saying, 'cos I think the distinction should and can be made very clearly even on here. I was thinking of that valentino-bloke when I posted it. Wasn't trying to criticize you, this time.

If you post a swastika, with the points in the approvable direction, and without the background colours the nazis used, then I think it should be cool.

If people can't get used to that, then they are being a bit unfair. 'cos we all know the difference between a cross turned upside down, and regular one, and one on fire for that matter. And we wouldn't complain about the regular kind, I'm thinking.
