Ok, my friend has a problem opening his cd rom (d:\) drive.
what i meant was , that is his recovery drive?
no, in fact, it says there's no d:\. I disabled system restor, and it just said that windows has recovered from a divice failure, and it needs to restart windows.
If it opens in safemode, try this.
Boot up normaly and when everything has loaded up, go to task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and see if anything unusuall is running. If you do find something "end task" it
Go to start>run and type MSCONFIG then click on the startup tab. Find that thing that you disabled in the task manager and untick it.
restart the pc and see if it opens.
If it does open do a search for that thing (Start>search>files or folders) you had to end task and find out what it is.
(Also if you see anything else what your unsure whats in their search it up in google and see what it is)
It might be something in startup thats using the cd rom for some reason.
Sometimes its something obvious like that.
Also have you tried right click on the cd rom icon and eject ?? sometimes it has to "unmount" itslef.
ok, if you havent yet, try HERE, and post your problem. it may take a while to get an answer, but that forum is pretty helpful.
ahh...more forum work, it'll have to do. thank you FKDUP74
and neattairoski everu tjomg is checked in the msconfig--->startup.
i had the same problem when i downloaded dvd rip x. my cd-rom drives just disapeared so, i just used system restore and that solved the problem.
My friend has tried that, but when he pressed the button, it said that it couldn't do it because of a worm. That's what window said to him.Quote:
