Re: Good free Usenet servers?
Those are probably IPv4 free servers and the speeds and retention will suck.

Re: Good free Usenet servers?
Both eweka and xsnews arn't working for me right now? Anybody else?
Re: Good free Usenet servers?
Eweka was/is working but xsnews as you can see below isn't working since yesterday:

So the ipv6 free servers are a temporary testing ground? How long do we expect them to be up? I'm considering Astra v. the free ipv6 ones.
Re: Good free Usenet servers?
Astra is very good
Im on the 11$/month deal
Which is like £6 if your from the UK
You can't go wrong
Or if your with Virgin Media they offer free newsgroup access also
Its UNLIMITED USAGE but the retention is only 7 days which means you can only get the latest new stuff no older stuff.
Re: Good free Usenet servers?
As other said, ISP is your best bet. Others will be flaky/dead.

Days, weeks, months. Who knows pretty much when they decide to pull them down. Thats the problem with the free servers or testing servers they never last.
Eweka, Newszilla & XS down for a MONTH?
Good evenning gentlemen.
People, I'm kinda lost here!
All the usenet servers that used to work for me seem to be down since the beginning of August, all at once. I'm wondering if that's my ISP blocking access to Usenet (maybe locking port 119?) so I'd like to know if there's a way to find out if that's occuring or not.
The Usenet servers that I'm trying to access are Eweka, Newszilla & XS News - all of them through IPv6, of course. GrabIt! gets stucked and reports that it was unable to connect to 127.0.0.1 (Connection closed gracefully)
Keeping in mind that everything used to work like a charm, what am I supposed to do now?
Best Regards.
