Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Thanks Yuuko, now this is getting embaressing but ive came accross another problem which is connecting with vnc viewer, all im getting is failed to connect to server.
This is what ive put in, ive changed ip obviously but looks the same.
94.16.12.178:1
Is this how it should look? as the tutorial says myip:1
Also i got my server details last night which i have logged in and done part of the installation but it says on the email
IP address: %$^&
Server name: %$*%*
(active in 24-48h)
Its the active in 24-48 hours i dont understand, is this maybe why i cannot connect with VNC and cant finish this installation?
Edit eventually got through to OVH they say the server is fine and ready to use so its a problem from my side :(
Thanks again
SP
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
If you connected to your and worked on your server, your server should be active.
The 24-48 hours delay is for all dns servers to the world to acknowledge the existence of your server.
The IP you have to use is your server ip with :1 at the end.
So according to the information you give, it should be %$^&:1. You can try with %$*%*:1 (the server name).
Maybe is it just a configuration problem...
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Great to see you online and helpful Yuuko coulddo with your helpful knowledge mate.
Is there any info you may need to see what im doing wrong?
Im connect to the server with putty and i typed vncserver :1
the response is Ks38764.kimsufi.com:1 is not tkaen because of /tmp/.x1-lock
remove this file if there is no X server Ks38764.kimsufi.com:1
A VNC server is already running as :1
On my home pc i am running New tightvnc connection and put the ip plus :1 in the vnc server window.
Any ideas and thanks again
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
So, it seems your vncserver is already running.
Can you give me the exact error message from your VNC client ?
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
It says Failed to connect to server (92.31.14.182:1)
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Try to enter in command line :
$ vncserver -kill :1
(use sudo if necessary)
then
$ vncserver :1
(also use sudo if necessary) and retry.
If any error message, please paste it.
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
vncserver -kill :1
cant find file /home/andrew/.vnc/Ks38765.kimsufi.com:1.pid
you'll have to kill the xrealvnc process manually.
Ks38764.kimsufi.com:1 is not taken because of /tmp/.x1-lock
remove this file if there is no X server Ks38765.kimsufi.com:1
A VNC server is already running as :1
Again i have changed the adresses but these are close examples
Im thinking should i have installed the apps in my user i created instead of root account but it clearly says install in root?
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Um. It goes beyond my experiences, sorry. :-(
Try Debian official forums, they should the answer.
